... and happy Memorial Day Weekend to those of us in the USA (happy weekend to everyone else!)
-- it's a 3-day weekend for many and the unofficial start to Summer.

What is you local weather like? It's very atypical in SoCal deserts. Probably one of the coldest couple of days - ever!

We got up to 74F and temps will drop into the 40s whereas it is usually +20F hotter (we were 100F on Monday). i understand the East Coast of the USA is getting a massive storm while the middle of the country swelters. A Cat 3 storm is off Mexico's coast - the first ever hurricane recorded there in May

What is it? The usual?

A sunny warmish day here, which is a pleasant change from the week and a half of constant overcast rain and wind we've just had. We will be heading into winter just as you are heading into summer.

There is a second tropical storm off the Carolina coast this year before the official June 1st start of the Hurricane season.

It is named Beryl.

It has a weird track in that it is going southeast from off the Carolina coast and heading towards the panhandle of Florida.

It most likely won't make it into the gulf but it will try.

If this thing stalls in Georgia it could cause massive flooding like back in late 1990's.

Isn't Chicago going to be in the upper-90s today?

Record warmth in your area and record cold in mine
- something in between would be nice
:)

It's 11am 67 degrees and raining now which stinks because we are supposed to go to a friends birthday party at 2pm and it's an outdoor BBQ.

My bad

Tomorrow is forecast to be 97F in Chicago
-- that should be a record for the date

Mostly sunny day, with a surge of tropical air expected to topple 101 year-old temperature record.

Warm front lifts north of Chicago by daybreak Sunday. South to southwest winds increase to 15 to 25 mph. Cooler lake air is kept offshore. Temperatures in the 60s early, rise quickly to around 90 by noon. Dew points in the mid and upper 60s raise the heat index to over 100 degrees in the afternoon. Muggy overnight with lows in the 70s.

have a nice day
:hello:

Finally got hot over the weekend - it should be called "Summer Celebration Day" rather than this stupid federal celebration day - most of the holidays are government-issued. Why can't people make Halloween and Valentine's a week-long holiday?

The temps finally reached into the 90's here in DC, and there were two brief but heavy downpours for the first time - really heavy rain. This is so typical of the Florida summer (sometimes torrential rain but for only 10 minutes or so, then sunshine again). Did you know that Florida has by far the most lightning strikes of anywhere in North America? I've been nearly struck by the lightning 3 times before - within 15 feet of the actual strike location. Two people in my family (3rd and 4th cousins) were killed by the lightning.

Anyways, we went to the local water park twice over the weekend - on Memorial Day, it was twice as crowded as on Saturday - the lines were so long! The water was already warm, which is unusual!! The family really enjoyed it..
