I pulled the trigger on an MSI PE gtx 670 when newegg got their shipment of them on Thursday. I also ordered a 27" 2560x1400 Shimian monitor off ebay. I'll have both by Wednesday. I'm excited to see if MSI's gtx 670 really does have unlocked voltage (or whether it's just marketing crap talk). Regardless, I anticipate the card to perform very, very well. I'm going to go straight for overclocking the vram first and find it's optimal overclock. Then I'll tackle overclocking the core frequency. As for the monitor, I have my fingers crossed there aren't any major noticeable defects. EDIT: I got the Achieva Shimian monitor today. Shipping took longer than expected, but that's fine. I ordered one with a zero dead pixel guarantee. With about an hours use, I can confirm there are no dead pixels, nor have I observed any stuck pixels. There are unbalanced brightness issues, nor is there any color banding. As far as my eyes can tell, this monitor is picture perfect! The default colors were a little bit on the "green" side at first startup. I used the nvidia control panel to adjust the green brightness down to 40%, and now it looks absolutely stunning. The color transition of this image here is very smooth. All in all, I am both excited and very happy with my purchase! Now for the MSI PE gtx670... (coming Wednesday)

Congrats! Very nice! Maybe you will have time to post a mini-review of both.
Why overclock the vRAM first? Are there any advantages to finding your max memory clock first? Usually it is done the other way round. Even with my CPU, i find the highest stable core and then look for the other areas to increase performance.

I'm jealous. I'm planning a similar upgrade in the fall. I have no money right now. I will probably go with 7850 crossfire instead of the 670 though.

Also did purchase this Sku as well based on the differentiation goodies that MSI offers over the vanilla, default sku's. Even though I am not an enthusiast over-clocker -- do desire some OC prowess out of the sku, hopefully. The added OC potential, well, hopefully this will offer a bit more performance value. I did purchase this monitor a short time ago: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6824236206 The LightBoost technologies really work well.

From everything I have read, both the gtx670 and gtx680 scale better with the memory overclocks only vs. core overclocks only. Given that, I want to make sure the GPU has all the necessary memory bandwidth I can squeeze out of it before pumping up it's core speed operations. 6900 to 7000mhz on the memory is my (hopeful) goal. If I can't reach that, then I'll be a disappointed panda. If it can go higher I will likely still leave it at 7000mhz. That's a nice, even number and 15-16% OC on the memory is good enough to help get very nice scaling out of core clock increases.

That is very true and my own research confirms this. http://alienbabeltech.com/main/?p=29607&page=3 Quote: Overclocking the GTX 670 is just as easy as overclocking the GTX 680 and 690. What is surprising is that we matched the GTX 680 overclock on the core exactly, +150MHz, although we got only +400MHz on the memory compared to +550MHz on the GTX 680. We did not adjust the GTX 670′s voltage. Temperatures were never an issue and the fan profile remained at stock which meant that the GTX 670 is also extraordinarily quiet at maximum load! However, there is no difference if you overclock the core first.

An EVGA GTX 670 FTW went on sale for $339 this weekend where I live but I missed out. They went out of stock really fast. If it crops up again at that price I will get one, though.

Soon now you'll be rolling in the good times!!! what a great 670. I am very very interested in your feedback once you get it. Why are you getting a monitor of EBay since you already have that nice 3d Asus?
