Supposedly the new Tahiti chips will be running at the 1100mhz speed AND at a lower voltage. . . .

. . . I think the more interesting discussion is the conundrum of what / how Nvidia will be able to do to GK104 to improve it a la GF104 -> GF114.
. . .

AMD needs 1100MHz to catch the stock GTX 680

How do you know there will be a GK114 to replace the high end? There is only so much you can do with 256-bit and we do have the GK110 coming. Perhaps all of the high end and upper-midrange is going to based on it while GK114 is simplified for the midrange. Unclear to me what to expect. Nvidia is not expecting anything faster than overclocked HD 7970 this year from AMD.

I think Nvidia will soft launch GK110 as a Geforce product at the end of this year, for bragging rights. And you're right, Nvidia might not have to do anything significant with GK104. They could just do a simple respin and, with 28nm working improving over the next 6-7 months, rebadge it a geforce 700 series product with a slightly lower power consumption but otherwise same speed and specs as it is now. I do believe the difference between GK110 and GK104 will be larger than GF110 and GF114, so Nvidia should be able to release 3 GK110-based Geforce cards with a comfortable amount of performance between each one (unlike the gtx 560ti 448, which was sandwiched tightly between the gtx560ti and gtx570).

Current rumors say a third GK104-based product dubbed gtx660 is coming soon, with 6 SMX's enabled and 192-bit bus. If yields are varied enough, I think they should also release a "gtx660ti" with 6 smx's and a 256-bit bus.

Nvidia will only launch GK110 if they need to this year imo. They do pay attention to what their competitor is doing and if there is nothing compelling, they they will wait to fill Tesla and Quadro orders before filling GeForce as the 600 series is 'good enough' until 2013.

The GTX 560ti-448 core version was a very limited run, made up of GPUs that did not make the cut for the GTX 580/570. i am sure that Nvidia will do this again, as needed. No need for a major reworking of GK104 (except perhaps the name to GK114) as the GTX 670 will probably become the GTX 760 with a respin, as you say.

i am also expecting 660 at the end of this month or sometime next. The Ti will probably be as you say; it needs to beat 78x0.

This was the FTW edition? EVGA's flagship? i would have expected the SC edition to be blown out, not this one. Could be a pricing mistake? $100 off?

Also did purchase this Sku as well based on the differentiation goodies that MSI offers over the vanilla, default sku's. Even though I am not an enthusiast over-clocker -- do desire some OC prowess out of the sku, hopefully. The added OC potential, well, hopefully this will offer a bit more performance value.

I did purchase this monitor a short time ago:

The LightBoost technologies really work well.

Wow now apoppin's not the only one really kicking ass here with a 3dvision 2 monitor and gk104 :tease:

I got the Achieva Shimian monitor today. Shipping took longer than expected, but that's fine. I ordered one with a zero dead pixel guarantee. With about an hours use, I can confirm there are no dead pixels, nor have I observed any stuck pixels. There are unbalanced brightness issues, nor is there any color banding. As far as my eyes can tell, this monitor is picture perfect! The default colors were a little bit on the "green" side at first startup. I used the nvidia control panel to adjust the green brightness down to 40%, and now it looks absolutely stunning. The color transition of this image here is very smooth.

All in all, I am both excited and very happy with my purchase! Now for the MSI PE gtx670... (coming Wednesday)
