I just found an awesome laptop at a thrift store, but it's missing the battery and a hard drive.. with both, it'd be worth way over $250.. for only $80, in superb condition! I tested it with my friend's Vertex4 SSD and everything looks great.
However it only supports SATA-1 (made in 2007, I think). It's this model:

I'm thinking that Seagate Momentus XT 500GB would be the best choice, and they go for as low as $60 on Ebay. It's probably more reliable anyways than old SSD's - except for the Intel ones, which still run around expensive - and it's nice to have at least 500GB of room... heck, I've filled 500GB drives since 2006.
