Hmm, a bucking of the hate-anything-with-a-Microsoft-logo trend.

I was under the impression that Microsoft had put the Surface tablets in the same division as the Xbox One, which made it difficult if not impossible to determine Xbox One sales and profits. So now when it suits them they reveal the Surface tablet sales and profits?

For me personally if I want a tablet I want it to be dead simple like an iPad. If I had to choose the iPad Pro or the Surface, I would take the iPad hands down. I do see the use in having laptop functionality in the tablet, however I think laptops are just better for that. I have tried using a tablet as a laptop and it's cumbersome. Yes, the Surface is optimized for that but it's not the same. Laptops are more modular and more upgradable. They have a proper keyboard and a proper hinge. They are also generally more powerful than the Surface (I have yet to see a quad core Surface).

All of that being said, I did try a Surface Pro 3 and I really liked it. I just think the iPad is better. It's looking as though Microsoft found a good market for their product though. They seem to be doing quite well which is good.

What I do personally is pair a bluetooth keyboard with my Android tablet. Then I take notes using Google Docs. It's super portable and convenient and it's much better than pen and paper IMO.

HP Slatebook 14.

Pissing awesome.  I got one for my 2nd son.  He absolutely loves it.

Yet, Surface Pro 3 is probably powerful enough to run Bluestacks (a pretty good Android emulator), without many serious issues???

But for like $1500 for an impressive thingy??  That would plummet to say, $300 in a couple years?  Horrible investment value.  Horrible bang-4-buck.  All because of that stupid Intel Core i7 that is oh quite better than AMD.  Intel's a bit like Apple, charging and raking quite a premium, although Intel did stay pretty far ahead with their fabbing tech.

I use an Asus T100 Chi, Windows 8. Runs Office 365, old games like UT2004.

The keyboard is cramped, but I prefer it to a old school lap brick. (by a LOT)

Lap bricks have their place as desktop substitutes and mobile workstations, but for net and light gaming, tablets are tough to beat.

Well for me my laptop sits on my couch. It has a quad core i7 CPU and I barely notice any difference between it and my powerful desktop PC in terms of general usage. I very rarely need to take the laptop anywhere. It's on my couch for the times when people are using the TV and I want to browse the web or something. For the times when I need to be mobile I use my Sony Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact paired with a portable bluetooth keyboard. I feel that this way I have the best of both worlds. My tablet is smaller and more convenient than a Surface, and my laptop is way more powerful with a way better keyboard. So yes, for some people it might be nice to kill two birds with one stone but I have found that I prefer things this way. I have an 8" Windows tablet and it's collecting dust in the cupboard.
