That is an excellent article. RE: R9 Fury Undervolting Analysis - SteelCrysis - 02-10-2016 Check out this comment: Quote: Undervolting saved my 3 Way Crossfire setup. Middle card would reach 94C in matter of minutes in Crysis 3 and other two around 88C. I dropped voltage -100 mV and kept stock speed and temperatures are now after hours of playing 67C, 79C, 75C. I'd say do it cause cards will run more stable and much cooler. AMD cards are overvolted already. The "wise OCing scientists" have always laughed at me and said, "Fool, we turn up our fans to compensate and are just running our parts how they should be run!". The a couple months later you see them posting "WTH? I must have got a bad card! It died, I'm going to RMA". I was actually able to reach a far higher stable overclock with about 60-80mV undervolt! Around 60mV undervolt gave the highest un-throttled clock speeds (of course, I increased the powertune slider all the way to the right, always), at moderately loud fan speeds. Regarding my old HD 7950 IceQ Turbo in a kiddie computer, it is undervolted as far as possible (100mV), then overclocked to 1 GHz, with the fan speed turned down to less than 30% - super quiet while still very cool. Beats my GTX 760 in some games! Agreed - undervolting works wonders for AMD's GPUs!! RE: R9 Fury Undervolting Analysis - SteelCrysis - 02-11-2016 That makes sense. After all, the lower voltages reduce heat. With reduced heat comes improved stability, enabling you to overclock while keeping power consumption similar to the stock amount. |
