Kind of disappointed.
I need to see some benchmarks for gaming. But so far, clock to clock, broadwell e is 2% faster in single thread PI and 10% Cbench.

Hmm. Perhaps it overclock well?

I definitely want to see gaming benchmarks

Yeah, without the eDRAM L4 "Crystal Well" cache, ordinary Broadwell is just in between Haswell and Skylake.  Nothing exciting at all.

I honestly don't see why anybody would upgrade from Haswell to even Kaby Lake, unless Intel launches some real exciting and affordable 3D Xpoint stuff along with an unlocked Kaby Lake with eDRAM L4 cache.

Upgrading from Haswell to Skylake (i7-4770K to i7-6700K) for power savings makes absolutely no sense at all to me.  It's not worth the time, hassle and effort, and extra $$$, for maybe 10-20W power savings.  And 5-10% faster performance.  Kaby Lake is where Intel gets all lazy and basks on the fake beach by the lake, hoping that Zen does not interrupt its own nap.

GeezUs

I can't believe it's gonna turn out like this. Broadwell e doesn't have crystal well edram?

I haven't been keeping up. But was really looking forward to broadwell E...Seems disappointment is the norm these days.

So, how is skylake overclock in non unlocked chips going? Has it been shut out or is it still possoble?

Seems an overclocked 8 thread skylake might be interesting. Idk
