Quote:"If you make it easy, we will come. If you make it hard, enjoy your Time Warner Cable,” Google Fiber's Milo Medin told attendees of a Comptel Competition and Innovation Summit this week. Medin was speaking on a panel about network deployment, fresh off of Google's announcement that it will be expanding Google Fiber into Charlotte, Nashville, Atlanta and Raleigh/Durham. RE: Google Fiber Blames Communities For Its Continental Drift-Slow Expansion - ocre - 02-27-2015 telecom and cable have a strangle hold completely killing google fiber ambitions. This doesnt make google the bad guy. They are actually heavily invested in alternative routes for bringing internet to the people. Check out the google balloons http://www.google.com/loon/ for example. Google finds massive resistance in almost anything they try to do. Mega powerful corporations and powers do all they can to prevent progress. Google is not perfect but they are far from being the bad guys. google fiber has struggled with expanding because there is serous resistance. This is a serious issue and there is a real force behind it. There is a real reason why the USA has very slow average internet speeds compared to the rest of the developed modernized world. A strong force is keeping it that way RE: Google Fiber Blames Communities For Its Continental Drift-Slow Expansion - SteelCrysis - 02-27-2015 (02-27-2015, 10:13 AM)ocre Wrote: telecom and cable have a strangle hold completely killing google fiber ambitions.Google in all probability has more money in the bank than the biggest 3 ISPs combined. Money and attorneys talk. They could be forging ahead with a multitude of smaller communities rather than just a few big ones, but they aren't. Like I've said before, it amounts to fiber-to-the-press-release, which other ISPs co-opted on smaller scales. |
