R9 390X Confirmed Rebrand - SteelCrysis - 06-15-2015 http://www.techpowerup.com/213455/radeon-r9-390x-taken-apart-pcb-reveals-a-complete-re-brand.html No surprise. Selling two year old parts usually isn't the path to success in the tech world. (especially re-packaged and at a higher price) RE: R9 390X Confirmed Rebrand - ocre - 06-16-2015 The hope to fool people into buying hawaii........ man though, read the comments. I never seen such a high percentage of anti AMD post. It is actually about even with their marketshare. 8 anti AMD for every 2 positive They aint gonna be able to get enough advocates/red team plus/(whatever they call them next) to gloss this one over. Even their real fans feel shafted.......well the non vested ones anyway RE: R9 390X Confirmed Rebrand - RolloTheGreat - 06-16-2015 (06-16-2015, 06:56 AM)ocre Wrote: The hope to fool people into buying hawaii........ Tomorrow is shaping up to be pretty brutal. What if they can't release Fury tomorrow, only "390X"? It will be a blood bath, they'll be crucified. RE: R9 390X Confirmed Rebrand - SteelCrysis - 06-16-2015 Crucifying has begun: http://videocardz.com/56496/amd-radeon-r9-fury-x-and-radeon-300-series-launch-livestream R9 390X announced at USD 430. Either yields of last batch too low, or had to be re-spun to match unexpected 980Ti level of competition. It's really got to suck being AMD. Shoestring budgets and up against competitors who can buy you with cash. (in intel's case probably 50X over) RE: R9 390X Confirmed Rebrand - SteelCrysis - 06-18-2015 http://www.maximumpc.com/sapphire-amd-tri-x-r9-390x-review/ Tri-X cooler, the best air cooler the 200 series had, is at its limits. Quote: The big problem here is that focusing purely on performance is missing the forest for the trees. Yes, AMD’s 18 month old design can still compete with Nvidia’s newer GTX 980, but even after overclocking, the GTX 980 is still going to use far less power than the stock R9 390X. And just to be clear, the GTX 980 can typically hit 15–20 percent overclocks, which puts it firmly ahead of the R9 390X. |
