More Proof That PC Gaming Is A Second-Class Citizen - SteelCrysis - 07-14-2015 http://www.maximumpc.com/rockstar-is-investigating-reports-of-pc-performance-issues-in-gta-v/ Now Rockstar is making efforts to sabotage mods in GTA V. The sabotage has wrecked GTA V performance on PC. There's no way this and Batman: Arkham Knight would have happened if PC gaming was a first-class citizen like the opinionated morons at Linus Tech Tips would have us believe. RE: More Proof That PC Gaming Is A Second-Class Citizen - ocre - 07-14-2015 Yep I have to unplug the Ethernet and lunch the game sometimes. It hitches every so many seconds. It's something to do with their network. There is constant activity even in offline mode. The expierence ranges from fine to terrible, often it's in the middle of those. Unplugging the network cable and then lunching the game is the same as lunching in offline mode (with command line) RE: More Proof That PC Gaming Is A Second-Class Citizen - ocre - 07-17-2015 What the heck is this? Gstanford, u should know that all that is BS. It's Gameworks that broke batman AK. You want proof, just look at the ps4. It doesn't have Gameworks and it runs fine. RE: More Proof That PC Gaming Is A Second-Class Citizen - SteelCrysis - 09-15-2015 http://techreport.com/news/29037/need-for-speed-for-pc-will-spend-some-extra-time-in-the-shop How the fuck does a simple unlocking of the frame rate require a game to be delayed? This is pure horseshit, and there's no way they would be doing this if PC gaming was in a golden age. RE: More Proof That PC Gaming Is A Second-Class Citizen - SickBeast - 09-16-2015 I just bought Need For Speed Rivals and it's capped at 30fps by default so that there is "parity" among the platforms. I take that as meaning they deliberately crippled the PC version. There is a hack but I haven't tried it enough to know if it's legitimate. I don't know why they are having this type of issue. It's completely ridiculous. They have to delay the game 6 months to fix something so simple that shouldn't happen to begin with? Pathetic. RE: More Proof That PC Gaming Is A Second-Class Citizen - ocre - 09-16-2015 It's probably just like batman AK. It ran okay at 30fps with the frame cap. The game was virtually unplayable with the frame limiter off RE: More Proof That PC Gaming Is A Second-Class Citizen - SteelCrysis - 09-28-2015 http://www.eteknix.com/pes-2016-pc-version-disgrace/ Quote:The PC version of Pro Evolution Soccer 2016 is shamefully based on the last-generation consoles edition and looks a complete shambles. Comparison images via NeoGAF, illustrates how the game on PC is lacking in sharpness, features blurry low-quality textures and contains a terrible lighting system. Not only that, PES 2016 doesn’t support resolutions above 25601600, only had 3 graphics settings and unbelievably, the roster has only been partially updated. Furthermore, the promotional screenshots on Steam are from the superior-looking PlayStation 4 version. RE: More Proof That PC Gaming Is A Second-Class Citizen - BoFox - 09-29-2015 Consoles FTW, for the lulz! RE: More Proof That PC Gaming Is A Second-Class Citizen - SteelCrysis - 11-06-2015 http://www.techpowerup.com/217308/black-ops-iii-12-gb-ram-and-gtx-980-ti-not-enough.html I guarantee you that this won't happen to the console versions. RE: More Proof That PC Gaming Is A Second-Class Citizen - SteelCrysis - 11-12-2015 http://arstechnica.com/gaming/2015/11/gta-5-modders-claim-take-two-sent-private-investigators-to-their-home/ Take Two manages to go even farther than any developer has ever gone before. Further proof that PC gaming is not in a golden age. RE: More Proof That PC Gaming Is A Second-Class Citizen - SteelCrysis - 02-13-2016 Ubisoft development person admits that The Division's PC version was held back to not anger console gamers, Ubisoft denies this statement: http://www.kitguru.net/gaming/matthew-wilson/ubisoft-denies-pc-version-of-the-division-held-back-by-consoles/ RE: More Proof That PC Gaming Is A Second-Class Citizen - SteelCrysis - 04-09-2016 http://www.extremetech.com/gaming/226261-quantum-break-on-pc-is-classically-broken This sure didn't happen to the XBone version. RE: More Proof That PC Gaming Is A Second-Class Citizen - SteelCrysis - 04-17-2016 And now multi-GPU doesn't work for Quantum Break: http://www.guru3d.com/news-story/quantum-break-will-not-support-multi-gpus.html RE: More Proof That PC Gaming Is A Second-Class Citizen - RolloTheGreat - 04-18-2016 (04-17-2016, 11:19 PM)SteelCrysis Wrote: And now multi-GPU doesn't work for Quantum Break: http://www.guru3d.com/news-story/quantum-break-will-not-support-multi-gpus.html SLi and CF don't seem as big of a deal anymore. Seem to have fallen aside like Eyefinity/Surround and 3d Vision. I don't agree that PC gaming is second class though, it's a bigger market than PS4 and Xbox One together. Who wants to bet they will have better graphics than the PC versions of Batman: Arkham Asylum and Batman: Arkham City? RE: More Proof That PC Gaming Is A Second-Class Citizen - BoFox - 05-19-2016 Remastered? Huh?? These games already looked fine, using Unreal Engine 3. UE4 might allow it to look a bit nicer, but I think that it would need some serious hardware PhysX effects on the clothing and on the boob movements of women in the game to really make much of an impact at all. It was already good enough for me.
RE: More Proof That PC Gaming Is A Second-Class Citizen - SteelCrysis - 10-12-2016 http://www.pcgamer.com/mafia-3-pc-port-analysis/ Quote:Any (graphically demanding) PC game worthy of the name should have the option for an uncapped framerate. Mafia 3 failed this test at launch, but a patch released just a few days later addressed this shortcoming. That of course raises an important question: If the framerate cap could be patched out in just a couple of days of fixing and testing, why was it there in the first place!? It speaks volumes that 2K Games ever thought having a cap on PC was acceptable. On PCs, frame rate stutters, crashes, and other problems are killing gamer opinion. Reviewers who have the console version have praised it to the heavens, while reviewers with the PC version have been reporting dropped frame rates to the point that it’s making some people seasick, even on advanced rigs. Pascal GPUs like the GTX 1080 can’t hold a stable frame rate, even with detail levels set to medium at 1920×1080, while reviewers with AMD solutions are reporting feeling seasick if they increase detail levels above Medium, even with GPUs like the R9 Nano.
