AMD Crimson Drivers , simply Ah-blazing
#1
Oh no!!!

http://arstechnica.com/gadgets/2015/11/a...deo-cards/

Quote:The first Crimson drivers are now out, and they appear to have a serious problem. There are widespread reports of cards overheating and perhaps even failing permanently.

It appears that the new driver is setting the video card fans to 20 percent and then leaving them there. Normally, the fan speed should increase as the GPU temperature goes up, but that is not happening with Crimson.

Quote:These high temperatures are causing poor performance due to thermal throttling, graphical glitches and crashes, and some users are reporting permanent hardware damage. Although the GPU itself throttles when it overheats, there's speculation that other components on the cards, such as the VRMs, can still be damaged.

But how can this be? This must be bologna, just Click bait.....right?

Not even, AMD acknowledges this one:

So as bad as this is, the real tragedy is the poor AMD Red Team in this one. See, now they can no longer link to an ancient old article while saying Nvidia is the only one that released drivers that physically damage and burn up GPUs. That weapon is is forever gone from their arsenal. If they try, it will back fire as a way more recent occurrence of such an incident comes directly from AMD. Surely they wont want this one getting around......

It's just AMD's ploy to try to get some of the Radeons to die, forcing die-hard AMD fans to buy another Radeon card during desperate times (what better time than Xmas to do that with $200 cash Xmas gift from Grandpa?)

Sorry

Honestly, I have been so busy that i barely have any spare time.......but still, i try to make time for my favorite place on the internet: the ABT!!!!

There is a lot that i missed though, so sorry guys. I will be pretty squashed for time till after the new years. On top of the already full plate, we are buying a house. Should be closing in the next few weeks and moving in by xmas. After looking at so many houses, we decided that location should be at the top of our considerations. That proved more difficult than we thought. But finally, we found what really seems like a special place (and priced accordingly, lol). If it is just half what it seems, Its gonna be pretty awesome

Congrats on finding a new home!! Interesting, I've never moved right before Xmas before. Always been between March and October. Yeah, you busy like hell!
