[Guide] How to connect multiple Dualshock 3 controllers to your PC
#1
For the past while I have been using an old Dualshock 3 controller with my PC using a program called SCP DS3. Here is a video guide of how to set it up:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x_VzPpFHbCw

I also had to follow this guide to get my bluetooth drivers working properly for it:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RuxXUKN1vz8

Basically you just connect the Dualshock 3 controller to your PC via USB, install the Xbox 360 controller drivers, then follow the guide. When you are done it should work perfectly via bluetooth!

What I just discovered today is that this works with multiple controllers. It appears that this will work with up to 4 controllers. I bought a new Dualshock 3 controller today for $30 at a clearance outlet. All I did was pair up my old one first, then I connected the new one to the computer via USB. I opened up the SCP monitor and sure enough, it paired up as controller #2! I let it charge up a bit and then it paired up via bluetooth as well.

I tried it in a couple of games and everything worked perfectly with no configuration necessary at all. I tried Split Second and Lego Star Wars 3.

Both of the controllers are emulating Xbox 360 controllers so they should work in any game you want and your system will think you have Xbox 360 controllers.

I hope that can help someone out! It works really great once you have it set up. My bluetooth adapter is an Asus BT-400 but apparently you can use any bluetooth adapter that you want. Good luck!

I just ordered a Xbox One 1TB with the new controller that's Windows 10 compatible.

GStan can probably use this though.

I thought you already had an Xbox One.

I have one in my house, but it is my son's, like all the consoles.

I'm finding that to be a bit of a stretch. I'm temped to ask you to share some photos as proof.

????

What's a "bit of a stretch"? You don't seem to have any problem believing I'm not exactly poor, and you have trouble believing I'd buy a second Xbox One for my living room?!

I have a HD-DVD player hooked up to my living room tv, because the Sony PS3 fat edition I had looked pretty 70s squatting next to my tv. My son's toys are just that - his toys. (PS4, XBone, 360)

I figured if I bought an XBone I'd get a BluRay for the living room, and maybe I'd game a little again. I'm usually in the living room, surfing the net on my tablet.

Rec room is Rollo Jrs domain, we don't go there.

It just seems strange to me and I find the timing of it suspect. What do you want the Xbox One for?

I must be missing something. Is this a bad time to buy one?

Do you remember me buying, then returning, the STEAM Link and Steam Controller a few months back? And asking about the Shield console because I was considering buying one?

How about me posting last week I was thinking of buying a second console week that my son didn't have to pull out of the entertainment center?

Posting things like "Consoles are cheap- don't know why anyone would limit themselves"?

These are the mysterious tell tale signs I don't consider buying a console a big deal, and have been thinking about gaming in the room of my home I'm in 90% of the time.

It's not that it's a bad time to buy one. It's just that you're a grown man and you're buying a console that most teenagers are into when your son already has one. I find that strange, no offense. It's your money. I just know that I would much rather put $300 into my computer or buy $300 worth of PC games. I just played some Rocket League with my son, it was lots of fun. It's the best $10 I have spent on a game in a long time. IMO you should work on setting up your computer as an HTPC as I have done, and then forget about all these consoles. I don't know why you're wasting your time. Is there a particular game that you want for the Xbox?

I bought a 980Ti and a 4K GSync monitor last summer. I think it looks great, but I felt like trying something different.

Will likely play some Sunset Overdrive, Halo 5, and Gears of War Xbone Edition. Maybe some Titanfall, I used to like the MechWarrior games and it looks like a distant cousin. I like shooters, but not war/army games.

Maybe I'll play the new Doom on the XBone.

Nice article from Feb. 2, 2014.

Have there been no updates on XBones and PS4s since this article from 3 months after launch that affect media playback?

Who knows. All we can tell is they both had issues at launch.

In any case, BluRay is certainly a far secondary reason for the second XBone. I've only watched a handful in my life, stream all my content on my 60Mbps internet.

I think they probably forgot about this issue altogether because playback of physical media is on the way out.

Who is right?

No way to know.

As the article points out these media playback issues are highly ironic to say the least on a device that was/is heavily marketed on its media prowess and its supposed ability to become the heart of your living room.

Is it more ironic than the owner of BluRay tech failing to play a BluRay in their testing?

Quote:Our experience is initially less pleasing on the PS4, with the original release of James Cameron's Avatar crashing to a black screen across two different units after around a minute of playback. Thankfully, we didn't encounter any issues on other discs we tried, and we imagine that problems such as this can easily be fixed with a software update. Still, as first impressions goes, it's not a great indicator of the overall stability of the system.

Yes I did read the article, which prompted me to think, "It looks like PS4s and XBones aren't top quality BluRay and DVD players, or at least they weren't at launch.

Unlike you who ignored all the negatives they said about your masters at Sony and went about your shilling.

I wish both of you would stop messing around with these kiddie consoles and come back to PC gaming where you belong.

(shrugs)

They banned me from all the forums for being in Focus Group. HardOCP, AT, Rage3d, Hexus, TheTechReport, others all told me in writing that while I hadn't broken forum rules my presence upset the Advocates and AMD fans too much.

NVIDIA jacked the price of the best cards to over $1000..

I got older and care about gaming less.

I've always cared more about fishing and hunting, and spent a ton more money and time there.

So I say, "PC gaming has turned it's back on me, not hard for me to turn my back on it.". I'll probably maintain a "high end" PC gaming rig while Rollo Jr lives at home, but I doubt it after that.

If I can learn the console controllers again I doubt I'll go back to PC gaming ever.

Well, sort of. I have UT, UT2004, Quake 3 on this Transformer T100 Chi. I'll probably always do some mobile gaming on vintage games.

(but not Day of the Tentacle, I don't care if that rascal mutant tentacle wants to take over the world)

I can now confirm that 4 controllers work perfectly with this setup! It really works great. I had some Sony points left from an old credit card so that bought me my last one. Smile

Megabyte Punch is a really fun game with 4 controllers! I'm looking forward to some Rocket League as well.

There is also a new version of the mod:

http://forums.pcsx2.net/Thread-ScpToolki...r-Reloaded

It comes with an installer now and it looks like everything is streamlined. I think I am going to donate to the developers, this is really a wonderful mod. I had an old Dualshock 3 lying around, plus I was able to find two cheap locally.

If you guys look you might be able to find Dualshock 3s on clearance locally. I know some stores I spoke to said Sony stopped sending them Dualshock 3s as of January. So have a look if you guys want to try this out as well.
