I've been so busy lately, I didn't get to share that I bought an LG G4 phone this week. I have had my LG G3 for a couple of years now and I've been very happy with it. A deal came up this week for the G4 that was so good, I could not resist. I remember reading about the phone when it first came out, and it sounded like an incremental upgrade over the G3. In reality it is, however it is a better phone in pretty much every way, which, when taken as a whole, makes the G4 a significantly nicer phone. I love the leather back. The phone looks really super premium and it is a nice step up from the G3 in that respect. It also has a more powerful CPU which makes everything snappier. The camera is also significantly better. Plus it supports quick charge 2.0 technology which allows you to give the phone an 80% charge in about half an hour. So far I absolutely love it. I was considering the G5 but I didn't like the new design, and I did not like that they made the screen smaller. If anything, I wanted a bigger screen. I was even considering a 6" phone.
Anyhow, I just thought I would share. Hopefully this phone will last me a while. The one thing I don't like about it is the fact that the CPU is getting long in the tooth. It has a Snapdragon 808. The new phones all have the Snapdragon 820 which looks like it's at least 50-60% faster. I'm not sure how that will translate into general usage but I'm sure I would notice it. The G4 is maybe 30-40% faster than the G3 and I definitely notice it.
Hey Rollo weren't you saying that you had a Samsung Galaxy S6? How do you like it?

I have the Samsung Note 5, seems like a good phone to me. (I'm far from a phone power user though)
Rollo Jr wants the Note 7, but we're 6 months out on our upgrades so it will be a while.

The note 7 keeps exploding and production has completely halted. I don't think they even know what the problem is.

LOL, yeah, I saw that after posting this.
No exploding phone for Rollo Jr, he'll have to pick some other phone.

Now they are telling everyone to return their note 7 phones for a refund. This is crazy. Imagine how many millions of dollars this is going to cost samsung. Just brutal.

Not millions, billions.
This will cost them $2b of the $7b profit they'll earn in the third quarter. If AMD lost $2b it would be "brutal", for Samsung it's not nearly as big of a deal.

In any case, our Note 5s and S7 aren't catching fire, and I still think Samsung makes the best phones. (and have a lot of company) However; we loved our G2s and G3s as well and personally I'd probably be just as happy with the G4.
I think LG makes REALLY nice phones, and because they're the market follower rather than leader you can get them dirt cheap often. (so they're a better buy by far sometimes)

Samsung has become the apple of the Android world. Their stuff is really expensive and it is never discounted. They often don't give you a micro SD card slot or a removable battery. LG typically gives you both, plus their stuff is way cheaper, like you have said. I also generally like how LG designs their phones. The G5 is ugly but the G4 is really slick. I like their phones. Mind you, I admit that the Samsung phones are a bit nicer if you have the cash. It all comes down to budget and preferences.

I think people are going to believe G5 "jumped the shark" with that modular malarkey, but it's still got the removable battery and storage going.
I'm thinking that over time taking the thing apart and slapping it back together might make the fit a little sloppy and/or scuzzy.

I just don't like the design. The thing is really ugly. Which surprises me. LG phones are usually really nice. The modular feature is cool and I like it a lot. The thing just looks bland. Sure it's metal but the LG G4 is a much nicer looking phone IMO.
