Apparently the game is doing much better after all the patches:

I grabbed a copy despite all the nay sayers. The game looks incredible on a technical level and from an artistic perspective. I'm really excited to try it out!

It's apparently fixed but people are still having issues with SLI so I would be careful if I were you.

I actually grabbed a copy of Black Flag as well because apparently it's a better game and it's also a good price at $7.50USD on Gamer's Gate.

I just tried out Unity and it's awesome!  Very impressive visually.  It feels like you're watching a movie and interacting with it in the same time.  The game seems very polished to me.  There were some dips in the framerates but nothing terrible.  All I did was to turn off the nVidia shadows and I set it to SSAO instead of HBAO.  I used FXAA and set everything else to "ultra" and boom, I get 50-60FPS with great visuals.

I'm starting to think that the people complaining about this game don't know what they're doing.  The nVidia shadows made my system crawl, even in the menus.  I could see a lot of people trying to run the game with everything enabled and then running into problems.

I do notice some input lag with the controls. It seems to depend on the scene. It's generally pretty good but sometimes I do notice it. I will try lowering the resolution to see if that makes a difference.

I will say that this is one of the first games that has made me want to upgrade my graphics card. I will probably look for something over the summer. I am waiting for Pascal and Polaris to come out. I figure that the replacement for the GTX 960 will hopefully be at least as powerful as the GTX 970.

It sucks for me that the $CAD has dropped so much. I might have to wait it out even more.

For the time being I am enjoying some COD games that I picked up for cheap:

Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 is $5.49USD here:

Modern Warfare 3 $6.59USD:

Black OPs $7.62USD:

Black OPs 2 $9.82USD:

Call of Duty Ghosts $9.82CAD:

Use promo code allkeyshop for the gamesdeal.com games to save 2%. They charge a 4% payment fee so it works out to close to the same prices I have listed.

The games look great with VSR enabled! I am even able to run 4x MSAA on top of the VSR to 1440p and MW2 was pegged at 60fps and my GPU fan did not even spin up.

I have to say I don't know what all the fuss is about with Unity. So far it is a fun game with jaw-dropping visuals. I'm guessing that the game was much worse when it was released. I'm getting excellent performance with only a couple of minor settings changed. I can even run the game with HBAO+ enabled but I prefer the higher framerate. HBAO+ does make a significant difference to the shadows, though. I could see this game running flawlessly maxed out on a GTX 970. I'm not sure what more people want. The game looks great and it needs some beefy hardware. I guess some people were expecting something for nothing.

What actually impresses me the most is that a crappy console like the PS4 or the Xbox One can even run this game to begin with. It's shocking. They are talented developers to squeeze that much performance out of crappy $100 GPUs.
