We enjoy it. Used to play that and backgammon a lot when I was in college.

Oh man, looks like it might be very limited availability at first, if the bird is telling me the right thing...     Limited availability = insane gouged prices.

It looks like it might be because of the earthquake that just happened in Taiwan...

Yeah, strange how video card prices haven't really gone down at all in the last several months - especially with all the rumors of 14/16nm GPUs coming out real soon....

Plus prices have actually gone up for certain cards like GTX TITAN, Black, X, etc.

If they launch at $1000, I'll wait the 3 months for the Ti version.

If they launch at $650, I'll buy. (assuming 20% bump over 980Ti)

Oh Greg...I wish you knew how to have a little bit of fun sometimes.

*edit*  I will say that I did overdo it a bit with this one.  I'm sorry if it annoyed you, Greg!

While it is fairly likely that I will end up with at least one, it is by no means certain, especially not right at launch.

Despite the AMD shills predictions of woe and doom for my "3.5"gb 970's they are still powering along like little champions and I see little real need to upgrade from them anytime soon for what I do.

If I read that correctly, I'm not a happy camper.

I told Rollo Jr I would buy him the next Titan next month, and those articles looked to me like the next 680/980 type chip is going to launch long before the new Titan.

Which will be good I'm sure, but I want the big dog.

Yeah it sucks, the rumors were all saying that the new GTX 970/980Ti replacements were coming out in May. Now they are saying that the new Titan will be out in 2017 and then the consumer cards will probably come out well after that. AMD might have a window of opportunity here.

I don't know what to make of this.

1080 and 1070 sounds a lot like "980 and 970" and 680 and 670".

Those were indeed the fastest cards for a few months, and then the big dogs came down out of the tall weeds a few months later and trumped them.

I want the full chip! I'm hoping this is an 8800GTX type launch and NV is just dealing the knock out punch to AMD.

Interesting - GTX 1080 (GP104) will indeed sport GDDR5X clocked at "12000MHz effective"..  (if people still use "effective" clocks like 7000MHz for GTX 980).
http://wccftech.com/rumor-nvidia-pascal-...0-f-gddr5/

Whew, GDDR5X just in time to the rescue for Pascal GP104!

***Edit -  take that with a grain of salt???
People are thinking that it's not feasible for Nvidia to do that with GTX 1080, and then use ordinary GDDR5 with cut-down GTX 1070, but ATI did it before with HD 4870 (GDDR5) and HD 4850 (GDDR3), no problem.  Another thing is that some are saying that GDDR5X is still being sampled and not yet ready for mass retail.

Nice! Bring on the new cards, I'm a day one buyer.

But wait! Should I wait to see AMDs response?!

Nah. Cool

I really hope nVidia prices these cards well. I have a feeling they are going to jack up the prices, especially on the higher end cards seeing as AMD won't have an answer for them until at least early 2017. Depending on how good the midrange card is though I might wait to see what AMD does. AMD does tend to offer more performance per dollar and Polaris could potentially shake up the midrange market when it's released.

This is a big decision for me because I plan to eventually use two of whatever card I get for Crossfire or SLI.

Wait...just a few months ago I was seeing people say that amd was gonna launch ahead of nvidia, people were acting like amd would launch way far ahead.

Are you saying amd is not set to launch Polaris till 2017? Didn't they have a supposed computer demo with Polaris just a few months ago?
So Polaris isn't coming anytime soon?

It is the return of Hector Ruiz.

Lisa Su is the "mama" in the song, and Polaris the unloved, unwanted new child. AMD's scaled down HQ is the "ghetto".

It's all pre-NDA code, a leak for savvy tech press.

NVIDIA white paper posted of Pascal.

This means they have had their editors day, and launch within 2 weeks. That was always how they used to do it anyway- send us/press cards, web conference, then 2 weeks for press to run benches and get their articles together. Sometimes as little as 10 days.
