Will NVIDIA launch a GTX1060 this week that is a little better than the R480, just to kick AMD square in the nuts?
I say yes, they have to have a ton of failed 1070/11080 chips to sell as 1060s by now.
AMD shills will hiss, "Do they REALLY have 8GB?! Or is it 7.5GB?!?" believing in their dull witted, bought and paid for "minds" this will actually matter and the public will actually care.

No I don't think a GTX 1060 launch is imminent. There would have been some leaks by now. I do believe, however, that nVidia is working on launching them as soon as possible. AMD will have a limited window to sell their cards, which is probably why there are rumors that there will be widespread availability at launch. AMD has to sell as many cards as they can right now before nVidia launches the GTX 1060. At that point AMD will be back in the same situation they were in before the RX480, perhaps even worse than previously due to how good the GTX 1070 and GTX 1080 are.

Predictably, the valiant AMD defense league on ATVF has begun their slandering of the card.
It won't matter.
Whatever hope they had of having the $200-$250 market to themselves just left, and I just got an article yesterday from an investment page about high power consumption for the 480s.
Bad times to be an AMD shill continue. I wonder if they ever get tired of having nothing reasonable to pimp?

LOL, first comment on Anandtech's review of the 480:
Quote:What a massive F-up by AMD.

Gosh, the power consumption isn't any better at 14nm. It's just as bad as the GTX 970 that it struggles to trade blows with in performance.
But then this:
Did AMD's stock drop today after all review sites showed AMD to blatantly lie with the Polaris efficiency slideshow?

Nope, AMD's stock went up from the low of $4.66 yesterday to $5.30 today (and it's still sharply climbing today).

Higher power consumption than GTX 970, GTX 980, GTX 1070 (which is nearly 50% faster), and within 3W of GTX 1080 (which is over 80% faster)!!
TPU has this to say about (5%) overclockability:
Quote:GPU overclock is extremely limited and one of the smallest I've seen in my reviews so far.

I already posted quotes from TPU's review of the RX 480 in the AMD thread.

here comes the gtx1060......confirmed.

did they really think they would own the mid range market?

LOL, sorry I didn't read all threads first before posting stuff.. I gotta get back to proper manners/habits.

They had to know NV was ready to drop the other shoe with smaller Pascals, their hype was for investors.
How would you like to be an ATVF AMD fan (not shill) ignoring the GTX980 TI Golden Edition for $350, only to see this dreck land at $240-$250?

What I'd bet on is that the 1060 would consume less than 100W on average while the RX 480 consumes 163W (typical - seen in chart posted above), and STILL beat the 480.
Worse yet, PERF PER WATT is exactly the same as R9 Fury:
If TPU included R9 Nano, this chart would probably show it beating the RX 480 in Perf/W.
Why, oh, why didn't TPU include the Nano?!????? This would've been so bittersweet..

I don't know if that means you liked it, but for me that is a very cool old song and that guy can play.
Was one of my big hopes for Rollo Jr, he did years of guitar and percussion lessons on top of band and jazz band, then just quit. If I could have played "Shook Me All Night Long" when I was 11 I would have wanted to do nothing else, he said "enough" and walked away.
Love the old rock, I guess because I'm old.(and we didn't have much else when we were kids)

Available July 19 in both Founder and 3rd party editions.
Features GP106, not a cut down GP104 and 6gb of memory (no 3gb option).

This card is a real problem for AMD, potentially catastrophic.
It's crazy how many AMD warriors are out spamming at every mention of the 1060. They are on full panic and now just posting BS and lies. Calling pascal a nvidias Pentium 4 and polaris is somehow the real innovation. This is way out there stuff.
Th performance per watt of the 1060 blows the 480 out of sight but the troopers are manipulating and claiming that somehow AMDs massive power suck on a new node is more impressive? What?
They are using the 150watt AMD claimed power consumption vs the tdp on the 1060 and saying it's some how an amd advantage to still be so far behind in efficiency....You know cause now they are saying the 390x uses 280watts for gaming so AMDs poor efficiency with the 480 is actually unbelievable...yet just a few months ago these idiots were claiming that the 390x was such an improvement over the 290 and it was pretty much on par with the 980 in gaming, that they were so close that it didn't even matter. Now they are all about the 390 using +250watts.
It's so bizarre. The other lies drive me nut, the 480 according to actual reviews and testing, it's not 150watt at all. It's 165 watt.
The 1060 is av real issue for amd and they are on an all out panic attack. You have to think, if the 480 chip uses 110 watt and the rest of the power is due to the board and memories...so for the 480, 110watts for the chip and 70 watts for the board...
Well every chip needs memory, pwm, other board components. These components are pretty standard and they should be equal across vendors.
if we really break it down, Nvidia has a tremendous advantage. The board components are common, the lower performance the larger the impact of this 55-60 watt board consumption on overall perf per watt. The higher the percentage the board power contributes in a 110watt 1060 vs a 160watt 1070. But clearly, taking 55-60watts off tge tdp of the 1060, the gp106 chip consumption and compare thar to 480 polaris 110watt and it's clear that nvidia is completely obliterated AMD on perf per watt design. The pascal chip is way way more efficient than polaris in a normalized chip comparison. The 55-60watt board consumption hides how fast and really is behind

It means I loved it! The first time I heard it, I felt so relaxed like after a good massage. It's interesting how promiscuous sex for enjoyment is so taboo (like the forbidden fruit) but the vast potential of music to entice all the nerves with feelings of enjoyment is completely ok...
As long as I have a wife and can hear some, I guess life ain't too bad.. just can't imagine what heaven would be like!
Ok with science that the big bang theory requires that fundamental scientific laws do not exist for the first few minutes, but not ok for the creator to defy these laws...
