You could probably come out ok if you just sell the card. I know that's terrible when you just bought the card, but if the whine bothers you, you should probably do it. Those cards are still in extremely high demand so you might not even take a hit. If you buy another card, Staples typically has the best return policy, at least here in Canada. Plus they price match other retailers and you can usually apply a coupon. That way if you get another lemon at least they will take it back.
Are other people complaining online about the coil whine with that particular card? If not, you might have got a lemon. It might be worth RMAing the card.
