The problem is, the general US population cannot seem to tolerate the Canadian model for heath care, which is clearly better. We pay half as much per capita on health care and we have universal coverage up here. The problem is, there are way too many people like Rollo down there who can't stand "socialism" and will fight policies like this to the bitter end, no matter how good they are and no matter how much benefit they will have for society. It is 100% ideological. Unfortunately Rollo represents the norm and the status quo down there. The USA will never have universal health care, barring a major shift in the way people think down there.
Not all aspects of socialism are bad and universal healthcare is one if its best aspects. People need to stop being blinded by their ideologies and vote for policies that make good sense for everyone.
Obamacare was a half-assed solution from the start. He couldn't do it properly because of what I have outlined above. They should have gone with a universal 100% government funded option right from the start. Get rid of the insurance companies entirely.
