OF COURSE a monopoly will raise prices and stagnate innovation! Look at what has happened with Intel. They shut down overclocking on all but their most expensive chips (the G3258 was an anomaly). They have also failed to innovate since Sandy Bridge to the point that the A8X CPU in the Ipad Air 2 is as powerful as a mobile i5.
If nVidia does get a monopoly we are all screwed. If you think innovation is slow now just wait until AMD dies.
