The "LEDs are much better for bright rooms" is a fallacy IMHO.
Even when we watch tv at night in our living room we have to turn off a little end table lamp that is 14'-15' away from the 60" LED Sharp Aquos. (or else we look at a fuzzy reflection of it on the matte screen.
At least with our 50" plasmas we got deep black, high contrast, and perfect motion for turning out there lights.
As far as AMD goes, I don't doubt 1080p HDR looks as good 4K SDR, at least if you're more than 10' away from it.
