Some (mostly older games) work fine at 4K on 970 SLI.  I find the sweet spot with my 970's for DSR is 1440p though.

4K has a long way to go yet before it is mainstream and a default resolution.

You don't have to be a shill or sycophant to realize that GSync is a big deal if your GPUs can't output at a steady 60fps on a 60Hz panel.

You'd probably be perfectly happy with 4K if you had smooth delivery of the frames at 30-60fps, which is what you can expect from 970SLi or a 980Ti.
