I like my 4K monitor a lot, and the 4K tvs I looked at at all looked better than my 1080ps. (although I was standing pretty close and they are looping 4K native content)
The upconversion is supposed to be one of Sony's strong suits, so I'm hoping my streamed 720p will look good.
Can always go back to cable/1080p if I have to, but am hoping to "stick it to those guys" after decades of being bent over the coffee with the silver cable remote stuffed in my mouth to muffle the screams.
