Dave I really do want to sincerely thank you for all that you have done for ABT over the years.  I have really enjoyed the forums here and you saved me from that terrible place we refer to as the ATF.

I do hope our paths cross again one day.  You are genuinely one of the nicest people I have come across in all my time online.  I know you and apoppin had your differences but really, I think we all owe you a debt of gratitude for keeping this place going as long as you have and for all the time and work you have put in.

It's a shame that this place was largely brought down by technical issues.

Rollo doesn't care about anyone but himself guys.  It's sad but true.  It sounds like he was raised in a lot of money but not much else.  Unfortunately that's all he cares about.  Himself and his money.  And he likes to brag about it.  But quite frankly he doesn't care about any of us here, he never has and he never will.

He would never have known that this place existed, never come here, never lowered himself to "talk" to any of us here except for the fact that apoppin came here and Rollo has a burning hatred of apoppin for getting him banned at AT VC&G and effectively ending his shilling career with nvidia.

And....this is just funny.

Apoppin would be one guy I truly don't care about. I certainly don't "hate" him, you just don't get the perspective of my life at all. Greg, I buy houses, cars and boats. Some guy that had something to do with a focus group I was in isn't even on my radar. It's just not a big deal.

Everybody else here I apparently care about, I've posted here over 2000 times since Apoppin left.

I like talking to everyone here, including you at times. BoFox cracks me up with his testosterone speak to the extent I sometimes mimic it because it's funny. I enjoy SCs news posts, it's interesting to hear SBs thoughts on things, Ben is a lot like me, Ocre puts together some really great debates, and it's always nice to hear from Happy Medium, Mouse Monkey, and the rest who drop in occasionally.

That said-

Dave, whatever happens with your job, you need to go to the $50 host with ads or whatever. I know your finances somewhat and it's CRAZY for you to be spending $35/month on this.

The only way I can see that makes sense is if you're planning to sue Poppin for use of 2/3 the name, and personally I wouldn't bother. He doesn't have any money. You won't either if you keep paying $420 a year for the site.

We can all see your post history here for ourselves, how you came here and slandered and belittled and insulted apoppin (and dave also) for everything you could lay your tongue to, until you were finally banned and even then you didn't stop, you came back again and again.

Why Dave hasn't permabanned you to hell and back for some of what you have said to him is completely and utterly beyond me.

A. I never insulted Dave. Before this site existed even I tried to help Dave. (E.G. I tried to convince him to return to school and finish his degree, went to bat for him with the AT mods when they banned him) After this site was created, the only advice I've ever given him was in his best interest. (I said he should move to my area because we have a lot of telecom employment, and the cost of living in surrounding area is dirt cheap compared to cities he's been living in)

B. I actually enjoyed meeting Apoppin at the GTX680 launch, long after the whole ATVF controversy you refer to. We spoke several times, I thought he was a "good guy", considered him a friendly acquaintance. (didn't know him well enough to call him a "friend", but definitely had nothing against him) I was pretty surprised when I came to this site and he started slandering me and banning me. He treated EVERYONE here poorly. Called us "no life losers", insulted our intellect, told us to go fuck ourselves.

Nonetheless, my point stands. I don't really care about Apoppin today, and I didn't then.

I don't think you get my whole outlook on life, although I've tried to tell you enough times in situations like this. Why you think I would waste time "hating" Apoppin, or caring about a focus group gig is beyond me. I think you just don't understand that the PC hardware is a very tiny part of my life, and the forums as well.

Life is too short to carry grudges GStan. I'm too busy enjoying to care about trivial stuff like Apoppin banning me.

I don't know that "we" can figure anything out.

Dave owns the site and decides if he wants to continue it.

Apoppin says you can get hosting anywhere for $120 a year. If the people who post here regularly just kicked in $10 a year it would pay half of that and his cash outlay would be $5/month instead of $35/month.

Or, if we all paid $20, it would be free to Dave. (me, SB, SC, GStan, Ocre, Bofox)

To me, the solution seems pretty straight forward.

I don't hate SickBeast, or GStan.

I don't even remember trying to register as that name on BTR, but I do vaguely remember being pretty angry at SB for something a while back. I think he posted some bullshit about how I was destroying my son's life when a. he doesn't know either of us b. if there's one thing in life I do care about, my son is it. I've spent most of the last two decades putting my son's needs first. I consider that the most important thing I've ever done, by far. (and my biggest responsibility)

Seems like you actually care a helluva lot about being on forums to me....

I honestly don't remember trying to join BTR with that name, as noted in my post to SC.

However; whether I did or didn't doesn't change 3 things:

1. What I said about meeting Apoppin is true. Ask him yourself if I was ever anything but friendly to him at the GTX680 launch.

2. Ask Dave if he thinks I ever had anything but his best interests in mind. All my communications with him have been in the spirit of helping that I can recall.

2. You can pretend my sun rises and sets on NVIDIA focus groups and forum chatting all you like, but it is just a small piece of my big picture. While you've been fantasizing about that, I've been turning my liked job into my dream job, my liked house into my dream house, my liked truck into my dream truck, and spending a whole lot of time canoeing, boating, and fishing with family and friends. Things are going REALLY well for me, way too happy these days to care about idle chatter on a forum.

I do this instead of watch tv, read forums and chat. It's entertainment when I'm not busy.

No one is going to buy the site, it's like buying a monthly bill. The name has no value, and the forum only has value to the handful of us who post here.

I've had managers schedule me last, or not at all, because we were on good terms there wasn't anything revolutionary coming out of it.

If you are looking, I encourage you to look around the Dane County, Wisconsin area. Low unemployment, lots of telecom jobs, and places you can live very inexpensively.

You need to get out of the big city, Dave- it's a rich mans game.

Quick update - Things have been quiet.

I can't say that about the site, it has been bombarded with spammers from Russia and China lately.

So far have been able to purge them which has been averaging about a 100 a day.

Have banned quite a few IP's as well.
