Tulsa Officer shoots and kills unarmed motorist

An unarmed black man killed by a white Oklahoma officer who was responding to a stalled vehicle can be seen in police video walking away from officers and toward his SUV with his hands up before he approaches the driver's side door, where he drops to the ground after being shocked with a stun gun then fatally shot.

I don't think it's good when anyone is shot by cops, period.

Police shoot twice as many white people per year as black people, and yet you don't post about it because it doesn't serve your asinine "revolution now" desires.

It is true that minorities by definition are a statistically smaller piece of the population so percentages within their groups are higher, but it's also true that they are involved in higher numbers of police arrests.

Probably because after the manufacturing jobs were exported minorities had fewer living wage job opportunities because as a group they have less HS and college education.

I know this though after knowing African American and Hispanic people over 50 years:

Nobody likes crime and criminals and that crime is correlated highly with economic circumstance. It's no shock very poor people of all races commit crimes and get into sometimes deadly confrontations with police. If you normalize the numbers for income and education level I bet you find similar crime and confrontation numbers for all races because we are all people who want the same things in life. No difference.

The problem you SHOULD be yelling about is offshoring jobs people who don't have expensive training can do.

I think you're not smart enough to realize if what you hunger for ever comes true, things will be 1000X worse for everyone: you, minorities, me included.

The difference is people like me would just take our families and leave the country because we have the assets and job skills to do so.

You think things will be better here with the people who own the factories and stock in companies gone? Uh huh. Have fun working at your apple stand.

These police shootings of ANY race are tragedies. Sometimes failures of the individual, sometimes failures of the cops to make the right decision, and sometimes (rarely) willfull misconduct by police. Sometimes (rarely) people willfully shoot police, but you never publicize that.

Trying to sensationalize the racial component does not serve the minorities, or the majority.

We are one people who need police protection now more than ever. It's not a "us vs them" situation, it's an "us" situation.

Our problems are jobs for ourselves and our kids, rampant drug addiction and the violent crime associated with it.

The answer is not "kill the rich people" now, and it never has been. If you want more money, take advantage of the free market and earn it. Why don't you undercut local cleaning services and clean offices nights after your job? Use the pay you earn to pay a helper, until you can afford another employee, and so on until you don't have to clean offices or even work.

It's a quicker path to wealth than "Woe is me. I hope other people kill rich people and give me the money."

Those wonderful business owners who you love so much and think should have as much of the wealth of the USA as they want are the ones who offshored the jobs you moronic fuckwit!

The answer isn't to "kill them and steal from them" Einstein.

The answer is to partner with them and make it profitable to locate the jobs here, in conjunction with tariffs to make it less profitable to offshore. Canada encourages domestic production by high import taxes. Everything we used to use was once made here.

There's a balance that can be worked toward.

I just watched the news about this shooting and it brings me back to my original position on police shootings:

Police should carry 3 weapons:

A taser, which was used in this case and is ALL that should have been used in this case.

A gun with non lethal plastic/rubber bullets, for confrontations a taser isn't practical but the person being arrested isn't holding a gun. (would have saved this guys life)

A gun with lethal bullets for criminals with guns.

It looks to me like this person was not obeying officers, but should not have been shot at all. The cop should be fired, and perhaps prosecuted after investigation. I think she made a mistake because she was afraid, and probably shouldn't have been a cop in the first place.

Another example of the media using anecdotal "evidence" to stir up emotional response and lead people by the nose to their product. (and the guy that wrote this probably thinks he's doing something "good" too)

It's a fact that there have probably been cops with bias of every race who have shot people because of their bias.

They should be prosecuted and jailed.

It's also a fact that every day thousands of cops draw their guns and no one gets shot or the people get shot pretty much forced the issue by beating on cops or pointing a gun at them.

So what is the trend and nature of the situation SC? The once a month some guy got shot who it was later found was unarmed and shouldn't have been shot, or the 1000s of times a day the cops risk their lives to protect ours and no one gets shot?

Again, I think this could all be solved with non lethal ammo. If a guy that the cops have told to get down on the ground goes back to his car and starts reaching into it, the cops shoot him with a rubber bullet and stop him. They don't have to wait to see if he was reaching for his cell phone or a 45, the guy doesn't die, and maybe next time cops ask him to stop and lie down he does because the rubber bullets hurt like Hell.

We are doomed as a nation if we can't end this divisive white vs black, Dem vs Republican, rich vs poor crap. We all depend on each other and until we realize this nothing will improve.

IMHO, the media does more harm than good and only tell the bad side of the story to get viewers. "Cops peacefully arrest 10,000 criminals today" doesn't sell nearly as many papers as "Cops shoot unarmed father like mad dog in the road".
