Bless the Tesla revolution! They're starting to compare it to the iPhone revolution!
I'm seeing lots of Tesla cars on the roads around here in the city!
Already more than 350000 orders in 3 days, since the article!

No thanks, if you're going to spend $30K+ on a car you can get a lot of cars that don't take 20 minutes to fill up to 50%.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tesla_station
And that is IF you can find a tesla quick charge, about 3 in my whole state:
https://www.teslamotors.com/supercharger
These cars are total bullshit. I have to wonder how ecop friendly they are also, given electricity is 86% generated by coal, natural gas, nuclear:

Think I'll stick to my pick up trucks.

Blah, Rollo! If everybody were like you, technological break-throughs would hardly ever succeed as revolutions until the government enforced new tech as the standard (hello communism). I thought you liked to support the cause (like with buying American cars/trucks, Nvidia stuff to support Nvidia), eh?
Hundreds of thousands are supporting the cause of electric cars!
America might be lagging behind with clean electricity, but will catch up soon, as many European countries are already paving the way with majority of electricity being clean. Germany plans to have at least 60% of electricity generated by renewable energy sources (mainly wind and solar) by 2020, IIRC..
(Sorry I don't have time to dig around for sources right now - have to fly!)

Heads up, guys! Happy Medium is giving us the location of a perfect dollar bill duplicator, that's perfectly legal - it won't be around for long!

I don't support American companies that make my life worse, and this would. That car would be OK for Mrs. Rollo's commuter car, but would end my life as I know it. It can't tow or haul anything.
Even for Mrs. Rollo, why? Spend $1000s more than the Camry, so I can say my wife's car is powered by burnt coal or natural gas instead of oil? Not too mention is loaded with big toxic batteries.
The concept of these cars is sketchy.
Note: We don't live in Germany.

Alright, you win, pal. America might be seriously lagging behind with wind and solar energy, but who knows, Google or even Tesla could be building massive solar panel farms and wind mill farms in no time.
Personally, I'm not impressed enough myself either to actually go for it. What gets me really excited is the Hydrogen Fuel Cell car from Toyota! I'm hoping it really takes off.

The feasibility of solar power is highly dependent on where you live. Arizona or New Mexico? Great.
Wisconsin? Not so much. My parents had solar power (active and passive) at one of their houses (was supposed to be a "house of the future") and the solar generated nickels and dimes worth of savings. We just don't get enough sun in Wisconsin, and what we get isn't as intense.

The science has advanced to the point that today we can build way more efficient solar panels. That technology exist.
Yet today, while there has been improvement, it's no where close to what it could be.
Not only is there technology that can increase the output per Sq-ft by orders of magnitude, there are many other breakthroughs that make needing a clear sky completely a thing of the past. Technology such as this
https://www.rt.com/news/339129-solar-pan...hene-rain/
The truth is, while China may actually use such amassing solar panels I doubt that it will spread quickly to the rest of the world. See, energy is big business. These are some of the most powerful people in the world. There really has never been an energy issue. Not from a technological standpoint. The issue has and may always be greed and power. Tesla had created free energy a century ago. And he was blacklisted for trying to peruse this. The crazy part is, he really had solve it. And energy could be transferred wireless for miles and miles. See, the energy was always there, abundant and massive energy. We are talking the forces that orbit planets, a giant spinning planet. The energy was always there, It was just figuring out how to harness it.
Tesla took earth's natural viberations, natural fluctuations, and manipulated this energy, resonating and amplified this energy which transfered thru the air as the molecules carried the viberations which could be picked up miles away. This wireless electric concept was real a century ago. Free energy
The world would be a very different place.
O am not sure how well you could run factories or heavy equipment on such. But even still, imagine just powering homes and today....cars...with nothing but the earth's viberations and a Tesla tower

Between utilities hiking charges to solar customers:
http://midwestenergynews.com/2015/01/16/...g-impacts/
and slow payback for systems:
http://energyinformative.org/long-pay-solar-panels/
Quote: For instance, if your installed rate was $3.95, and your average electricity cost is $0.20 per kilowatt hour, your pay-back time should be about 15 years.
I don't see solar taking off here.

Gstan, that little buggy would be PITA for me no matter what it can tow.
I used to haul the kids motorcycles in the back.
I currently have my 6' x 3' portable ice shanty and gear in the back, all winter long.
Every week in the open water season my 16' canoe goes in the back. (Or the little outboard and trolling motor, fishing gear for the little boat at the fishing shack)
And I tow the 18' 150hp boat a fair amount.
Not to mention at 6'5 almost 3 bills I require a pretty big seat.
Some people just need a full size pick up Gstan, and I didnt even go into the occasional needs of homeowner and rec property owner. Truck is just handy to own.
P.S. I bought my biggest "land locomotive" yet last year, loving it!

Gstan we only generate 16% of our electricity by renewables, 63% by burning fossil fuels. Between that and the hazardous waste of tesla batteries, they are a mixed bag at best.
They also take a lot longer to re-fuel, have lower range, are impacted by extreme temperatures, have far fewer fuel and service stations, and cost more.
I see Teslas like solar power in the near term: a costly mixed bag of pros and cons, mainly for hobbyists and the wealthy to play with.

I think you need to Google what percent of our (USA) electricity is generated by sun and wind.
Hint: It is not "significant inroads", a d same with Tesla cars.
My dad used to own a solar energy company, I know a bit about solar.
My mom her siblings own some farmland with wind turbines. I know a bit about what was promised a d delivered there too.

Gstan, you need to remember Britain is only as big as Alabama. Not even one of our big states.
Small area, higher concentration of people, far fewer people.
Not the same.
