Lesbian Couple Files Lawsuit After Hawaii Cop Arrested Them For Kissing

Courtney Wilson and Taylor Guerrero, who were visiting Hawaii from Los Angeles in March, said in a federal lawsuit filed Tuesday that they were harassed and arrested because the officer didn't like their public displays of affection in a Foodland store on Oahu's North Shore.

They were walking through the aisles holding hands and at one point hugged and kissed, the lawsuit said: Officer Bobby Harrison, who was shopping in uniform, "observed their consensual romantic contact and, in a loud voice, ordered plaintiffs to stop and 'take it somewhere else.'"

While the women were in the check-out line, Harrison grabbed Wilson by the wrist, and she started to call 911, she said.

"He was bumping his belly against Courtney," Guerrero said. "He said, 'you girls don't know how to act. You don't know the difference between a motel and a grocery store.'"

When Guerrero tried to get in between her girlfriend and the officer, he shoved her. She kicked him as she was falling, she said.

"The whole situation got physical," Wilson said. "I got punched in the face by him."

Because Harrison didn't have any handcuffs on him, store employees helped restrain the women, as customers watched.

The women were arrested and charged with felony assault on an officer. They spent three days in jail and each paid a bail bondsman $1,300 for bail that was set at $12,000 each, they said. They had to remain in Honolulu as a condition of their release.

The charges were eventually dismissed, Seitz said.

In the meantime, they had to stay with family friends or strangers they befriended. At one point they thought they would have to go to a homeless shelter. They found jobs cleaning vacation rentals.

Police earlier told The Associated Press that they couldn't comment on pending litigation, then later said they had opened the internal probe. Police department spokeswoman Michelle Yu said she would pass a message seeking comment from Harrison, a 26-year veteran, to his commander. He remains on full active duty.

First thing in my mind was "What does it have to do with being a lesbian"? It's simply indecent exposure or indecent displays of affection in the public, especially in a store - if I was french kissing my wife and fondling her butt/breasts in one of the aisles, and a cop saw me do that, the cop would probably tell me to stop, or arrest me if I refused to stop.

Well, I guess I need to see the actual in-store video recording, before knowing anything for sure.

No offense intended, but no matter how attractive you and your wife are, I'd rather see a couple hot girls necking in a grocery store. Leave'm alone, Johnnie Law!

Yeah, the cop just wanted to participate in it just a tiny bit...... but poor cop, the lesbians had to deny him just an ounce of the pleasure.... :(

BTW, the bruise on the lesbian's arm was totally bullcrap. No man's grip is ever powerful enough to cause a bruise that bad. It was clearly done shortly afterwards, by tying some extremely durable cloth material around the wrist, using some serious vise grip hardware (with like over 2000 pounds of pressure). Just look at the UFC fighters who grapple each other all the time with olympic strength - do you ever see a completely all-round bruise on their wrists swelling up like a snakebite? Hell frigging no.

They used Zip ties because the cop did not have cuffs on him.

Zip ties??? Did the store really have some zip ties right next to the counter, for the cop to immediately improvise and grab and use?
