They're also ditching the half-cores of Bulldozer and Piledriver. I wonder if it's too good to be true.

Doesn't really matter what they do at this point. The brand is so damaged they won't regain any significant market.

Thats not what i got out of it. In your link, the slide.

Quote: Interestingly, the L3 cache is shown as 8MB contiguous blocks rather than a unified design. This suggests that Zen inherits its L3 structure from Bulldozer, which used a similar approach

Quote: the new CPU will offer up to 16 Zen cores, with each core supporting up to two threads for a total of 32 threads
Quote:We’re clearly looking at a modular part, and AMD has defined one Zen “module” as consisting of four CPU cores, eight threads,

We are still gonna have the same module concept. The only difference here would be how they are marketing them. AMD has been trying to pass off quad cores as 8 cores, because they can handle 8 threads somewhat. In this (most likely bogus leaks), we are being told it is a 16 core chip with 32 threads. Really though, there is simply no way. I think it is complete and utter trash, just like the link suggest:

Quote:I’ll be genuinely surprised if AMD debuts a 16-core chip with a massive integrated graphics processor, and 16GB of HBM memory, and 64 lanes of PCI-Express, and a revamped CPU core, and a new quad-channel DDR4 memory controller, and a TDP that doesn’t crack 200W for a socketed processor.

But hey — you never know.

I'm pretty sure that no matter the specs of the next AMD chip it will be hotter than the sun and a power hog!

That's handy up here in the north in winter.
