GeForce 280.26 Performance analysis
Benchmarks & Conclusion
Here are our results of 24 benchmarks – 21 games and 3 synthetics – compared between GeForce 270.61 and 275.33 using the GTX 580 and the GTX 590.
“Wins” are in bold; if there is a tie, both results will be in bold type.
We note some real performance improvement with the new drivers for DiRT 3 as well as for Crysis. We also noted a lot of improvements for 3D Vision and that Street Figher IV and Crysis 2 were upgraded to “3D Vision Ready” with these 280 drivers. Since the driver upgrade, each game looks spectacular in Stereoscopic 3D (S3D)! We also appreciated the very useful features in Nvidia’s GeForce 280 drivers and we recommend that you download and upgrade to the very latest drivers no matter which Nvidia video card that you may have!
We have to also give our highest recommendation to the latest GeForce drivers. In many cases they provide slight performance increases with no real negatives that we have encountered. We will be back to compare performance of the new GeForce WHQL drivers when they are (probably) released next month and we shall also cover AMD’s Catalyst 11-8 later on next week as we compare performance of the HD 6990 to GTX 590, the HD 6770 to the GTX 580 and the HD 5770 to GTX 550 Ti. We also have a new mega-evaluation of our nearly 6-month long investigation 3D Vision coming out shortly. Happy gaming!

The on/off switch and depth wheel stopped working on the IR emitter for 3DVision when I upgraded to these drivers
Had to revert to 275.33
