From left to right, there is a small reset button, the power button and the fan speed controller dial with the fan LED on/off button embedded in it. The connection ports are in two rows. At the top you find the eSATA port as well as the two ports to accommodate a microphone and a headphone. Beside those are the very bright LEDs for hard drive activity and power. Below you have an IEEE1394 Firewire port separating the four USB 2.0 ports into two pairs.

Moving to the left side panel, again the mesh is dominant as you would expect from this model. The entire mesh section has a dust filter pre-installed and wonderfully so because of the 200mm intake fan. This fan is situated right where you would have your video card(s) installed and as such will provide some clean, cool air to help cool today’s monsters.

At the back of the chassis on the left, there is the standard cut-out for the motherboard’s I/O shield plate and at the top right there are two holes, with rubber grommets, for water cooling tubes to pass through. Below that is where you will find the pre-installed 120mm exhaust fan; there are no LEDs on this fan. The case allows for a 120mm, a 90mm or an 80mm fan to be installed if preferred.

There are seven expansion slots for cards installed on the motherboard, each with a tool-less design for securing them in place. Along with those, is a special expansion slot that by default houses the CM Storm StormGuard™ accessory. On the floor of the case is where a standard ATX power supply will be installed. There are two soft rubber strips to both protect the PSU itself from scratches as well as to prevent vibration.

Exterior (continued)

The right side panel does not show much other than balancing the bulging case design of the left side and sporting the CM Storm logo. The main use of this bulging design, other that its obviously good looks, is the fact that it creates space behind the motherboard tray for hiding and tidying cables. You saw the same design implementation when I reviewed the HAF 922 a while back.

The top of the case continues the military design theme and again sports the mesh styling. This is located on the somewhat inconspicuous, reinforced carrying handles. These carrying handles are perfect for transporting the chassis from Point A to Point B and will come in especially handy for those gamers that just love to attend LAN parties.

I can attest to its sturdiness based on my experience doing this build. The case itself weighs in at roughly 26.5 pounds and I weighed the system unit after the build (which you will see later in the review) and it almost doubled, to a whopping 50 pounds!! The carrying handles did not creak, or quiver, or shake, or budge, even in the slightest while I tested it by carrying the system around. Verdict: Very Sturdy.

Underneath the carrying handles there lies another monster (fan) beneath a similarly designed mesh with a larger bore. Found here is the 200mm exhaust fan. All the 200mm fans included are low-RPM, high-CFM fans which do exceptionally well at moving large amounts of air.

At the bottom of the case, there are four big feet to support this mid-sized giant. They are all adjustable to 45 and 90 degree angles from their original position. I prefer using them at full spread to make the machine sit even more stable on any surface. Speaking of that, they all have rubber footing and as such will not scratch any surface.

Interior

When the case is opened, the all-black interior greets you in all its splendour. This is an upgrade that will please many. Lots of persons mod their cases with spray paint and all other kinds of materials, just to get it to have an all-black interior.
