The Catalyst Control Center (CCC) is where all the magic happens for setting and tweaking Radeon video cards. We have grown accustomed to having monthly improvements for the Radeon line-up and this month is no different; except for the fact that we will be getting a significant improvement. This time, however, there is a lot more to consider aside from just performance.<\/p>\n<p>This <em>\u201c1-2 punch\u201d<\/em> as AMD calls it, will come in the form of the 10.2 and 10.3 Catalyst releases. The new features will be introduced in a two-stage process across February and March. Before I get into any details, have a look at the highlights of these new features.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"border-right-width: 0px; display: inline; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; margin-left: 0px; border-left-width: 0px; margin-right: 0px\" src=\"http:\/\/i2.wp.com\/alienbabeltech.com\/main\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/02\/highlights-png.png?resize=550%2C300\" border=\"0\" alt=\"\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\" \/><\/p>\n<p>First, let us look at what is available right now in Catalyst 10.2 (which should be available\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/support.amd.com\/us\/gpudownload\/Pages\/index.aspx\" onclick=\"_gaq.push(['_trackEvent', 'outbound-article', 'http:\/\/support.amd.com\/us\/gpudownload\/Pages\/index.aspx', 'here']);\" target=\"_blank\">here<\/a> any time now).<\/p>\n<p><em>Note: All images courtesy of AMD.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><!--pagetitle:Introduction--><!--nextpage--><!--pagetitle:New Features In Catalyst 10.2--><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">New Features In Catalyst 10.2<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>There are five main features implemented in the 10.2 driver set. They are briefly covered as follows:<\/p>\n<p><strong>CrossFireX Profiles<\/strong> &#8211; This will be the main feature of the 10.2 release. This introduces application profiles in a separate .XML file that can be updated (by AMD) and then downloaded and installed by the user at any given time.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"border-right-width: 0px; display: inline; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; margin-left: 0px; border-left-width: 0px; margin-right: 0px\" src=\"http:\/\/i1.wp.com\/alienbabeltech.com\/main\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/02\/crossfirexprofiles-png.png?resize=550%2C300\" border=\"0\" alt=\"\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>CrossFireX Re-Architecture<\/strong> \u2013 This is not a feature to be utilized just yet but ATI is launching it now because it will be very important for their future Fusion Accelerated Processing Units (APUs). Below is a summary of this re-architecture.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"border-right-width: 0px; display: inline; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px\" src=\"http:\/\/i0.wp.com\/alienbabeltech.com\/main\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/02\/crossfirexrearchitecture-png.png?resize=550%2C150\" border=\"0\" alt=\"\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>Ultra Low Power State<\/strong> \u2013 This will allow the second card in your CrossFireX configuration to be set to very low clock speeds when not in use and hence, saving power. If you have a DisplayPort monitor with speakers, just try it and you\u2019ll hear the audio!<\/p>\n<p><!--nextpage--><!--pagetitle:New Features In Catalyst 10.3--><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">New Features In Catalyst 10.3<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>There are going to be six main features that will be implemented in the 10.3 driver set. These are briefly covered as follows:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Catalyst Mobility<\/strong> \u2013 Pretty straight forward, just install it on your laptop and have fun with Catalyst. Support will range from the HD 2000 Series Mobility Radeons to the present GPUs and future implementations.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"border-right-width: 0px; display: inline; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px\" src=\"http:\/\/i2.wp.com\/alienbabeltech.com\/main\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/02\/catalystmobility-png.png?resize=550%2C300\" border=\"0\" alt=\"\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>Eyefinity \u2013 Bezel Correction<\/strong> \u2013 This as well as the following three features require an Eyefinity setup. Bezel Correction allows you to better configure your displays by removing the pixels occupied by the bezels.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/i2.wp.com\/alienbabeltech.com\/main\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/02\/bezelcorrection-png.png\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"border-right-width: 0px; display: block; float: none; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; margin-left: auto; border-left-width: 0px; margin-right: auto\" src=\"http:\/\/i0.wp.com\/alienbabeltech.com\/main\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/02\/bezelcorrection_thumb-png.png?resize=240%2C137\" border=\"0\" alt=\"\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Eyefinity \u2013 Per-Display Controls<\/strong> \u2013 This gives the user the ability to adjust the colour, brightness and contrast of each monitor individually to give you the best viewing experience possible.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Eyefinity \u2013 Multiple Groups<\/strong> \u2013 This feature allows you to create more than one Eyefinity group from multiple displays.
