A user who has been testing Android 2.2 codenamed Froyo has reported some performance numbers. He ran the Linpack benchmark for Android on his Nexus One with Android 2.1 and got a score of 6.5-7 MFLOPS. When he ran the same benchmark on Android 2.2, the score shot up to 37.6 MFLOPS. That’s an increase of 450% ! How can this be ? You might ask. This is due to the inclusion of JIT (Just-In-Time) compilation into the Dalvik VM which is the brains of Android. It has to be noted that the applications that are compiled to native code won’t see such a huge increase in performance. But you can expect some performance increase while using the phone. The phone was said to be noticeably faster after the upgrade.

Looks like we might be in for a tasty frozen yoghurt come May 19th.

Source

Google I/O even is in 6 days time where google is expected to unveil Android 2.2 with Flash 10.1 support.
