Sprint has just announced on twitter, as most news are announced these days, that the Samsung Moment and HTC Hero will not be getting Google\u2019s latest wares. However, the just launched HTC EVO 4G will be upgraded to Android 2.2 in the near future. We believe that every handset out there should get the latest Google has to offer and cannot comprehend why these handsets will not get Android 2.2, especially as Android 2.2 will make these perform faster. However, I\u2019m sure the large Android hacking community will have custom ROMs built on top of Android 2.2 for these phones. <\/p>\n

Here\u2019s what sprint had to say<\/p>\n

HTC EVO will be updated to Android 2.2; Samsung Moment & HTC Hero will not. Future devices launching w\/ 2.1 will be also be updated to 2.2<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

As work on finalizing the software is under way, Sprint expects to launch Android 2.2 in the near future.<\/p>\n

Sorry for any confusion created when we initially made this announcement.  HTC EVO 4G will receive the 2.2 update, Samsung Moment and HTC Hero will not.  Future devices launching with 2.1 also will be updated to 2.2<\/p>\n

With the Android 2.2 upgrade, customers can expect improvements to include the following benefits: updates to user interface, improved EAS Support, improved browser performance, including Flash 10x Support, voice dialing over Bluetooth and application storage on external memory.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n
