{"id":208,"date":"2008-09-19T05:56:28","date_gmt":"2008-09-19T05:56:28","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/alienbabeltech.com\/?p=538"},"modified":"2013-04-26T06:37:40","modified_gmt":"2013-04-26T05:37:40","slug":"intel-desktop-cpu-update","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/alienbabeltech.com\/main\/intel-desktop-cpu-update\/","title":{"rendered":"Intel Desktop CPU Update"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Intel Desktop CPU Update<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">CPU manufacturer, Intel, has disclosed its plans for the near future regarding new releases, Product Discontinuance Notices (PDNs), End of Life (EOL) and everyone&#8217;s personal favourite, price cuts.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><em>Note: All prices are quoted in US Dollar values per 1000 unit tray.<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u00a0<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">New Releases<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The current architecture, Core 2, will see five new models in the fourth quarter of 2008. The table below details this release.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">\u00a0<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" title=\"Intel CPU Launch Q4 2008\" src=\"http:\/\/i2.wp.com\/www.alienbabeltech.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/09\/intel_launch_q4_08.jpg?resize=646%2C135\" alt=\"\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The new architecture, <em>Core i7,<\/em> is scheduled for a November release. However, an exact date is not known. If I were to make an educated guess, I would say November 30. Anyway, at launch, there will be three processors:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"unIndentedList\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li> Core i7 965 XE (3.2GHz)<\/li>\n<li> Core i7 940 (2.93GHz)<\/li>\n<li> Core i7 920 (2.66GHz)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">More variants will be released in the second quarter of 2009.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u00a0<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Product Discontinuance Notice (PDN) &amp; End of Life (EOL)<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"> <\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Intel will be issuing PDNs in the first quarter of 2009 to several of its processors. Heading this list are the Core 2 Extreme QX9770 and the QX9650. There will be PDNs issued also for four Core 2 Quad CPUs including the famed Q9450.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Ten dual-cores will be given notices as well. This includes six Core 2 Duo processors, one of which will be the E8300; three Pentium processors, inclusive of the E2220; and finally the cheapest Intel dual core CPU, the Celeron E1200.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Any CPUs that receive a PDN will be phased out and will reach EOL by the second quarter of 2009.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u00a0<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Price Cuts<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">There is not much that needs to be said about this.
