This board sports an LGA 1155 Socket and supports Intel\u2019s latest offering in their processor lineup, Sandy Bridge. With the launch of Sandy Bridge happening on January 5, 2011 and the retail availability uncertain, there will not be any performance numbers in this article. Included was the P67H2-A2 itself along with 8 SATA 6Gb\/s cables (lock pin type), SLI Bridge, I\/O shield, user manual, quick setup guide and driver disk. In addition to all this was a dual port USB 3.0 cable with an optional 3.5\u201d bay for the front or expansion slot bracket for the back of the system. A nice touch in keeping with the Black Series theme is the black PCB on which it is built. The large double heatpiped heatsinks have a black and silver flame across them which is pretty \u2018cool\u2019. So cool in fact that ECS named this system the Qooltech III Dual Heatpipe. This is used to cool the Voltage Regulator Modules or VRMs. The other, flatter heatsink is what cools the P67 chipset.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/i0.wp.com\/alienbabeltech.com\/main\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/01\/ECSP67H2A216.jpg\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"display: block; float: none; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; border: 0px;\" title=\"ECS P67H2-A2 - 16\" src=\"http:\/\/i1.wp.com\/alienbabeltech.com\/main\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/01\/ECSP67H2A216_thumb.jpg?resize=240%2C180\" border=\"0\" alt=\"ECS P67H2-A2 - 16\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Across the top section of the layout we see the 8-pin CPU power connector, the 4-pin CPU fan header and the 4 DDR3 memory slots. Down the right side we have a 3-pin fan header, 24-pin ATX main power connector, 8 SATA ports (4 grey @ 6Gb\/s &amp; 4 white @ 3Gb\/s) and last but not least, the temperature monitoring LED. This LED also functions as a Debug LED.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/i0.wp.com\/alienbabeltech.com\/main\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/01\/ECSP67H2A210.jpg\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"display: block; float: none; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; border: 0px;\" title=\"ECS P67H2-A2 - 10\" src=\"http:\/\/i2.wp.com\/alienbabeltech.com\/main\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/01\/ECSP67H2A210_thumb.jpg?resize=240%2C180\" border=\"0\" alt=\"ECS P67H2-A2 - 10\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The bottom section of the board has the usual connectors and headers for front panel audio and USB 2.0 and 3.0 (including EZ Charger but more on that later), S\/PDIF out, 3-pin fan header, clear CMOS jumper and of course the power and reset switches as well as the LED headers.<\/p>\n<p>The expansion slots from top to bottom are a single PCIe 1x, followed by 2 PCIe 16x and then 2 PCI. This will be the resting place of some lucky Sandy Bridge CPU. They are plastered all over the box and they greet you on the motherboard stickers. I spoke earlier about the Qooltech III Dual Heatpipe and according to the sticker, it is supposed to keep the power circuitry some 15\u00b0C &#8211; 20\u00b0C cooler.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/i0.wp.com\/alienbabeltech.com\/main\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/01\/ECSP67H2A28.jpg\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"display: block; float: none; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; border: 0px;\" title=\"ECS P67H2-A2 - 8\" src=\"http:\/\/i2.wp.com\/alienbabeltech.com\/main\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/01\/ECSP67H2A28_thumb.jpg?resize=240%2C180\" border=\"0\" alt=\"ECS P67H2-A2 - 8\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Next we see that the the contacts used throughout the CPU socket, the memory slots and the PCIe slots are all 15\u00b5 gold contacts. ECS prides themselves on <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ecs.com.tw\/extra\/15u\/global\/p1.html\" onclick=\"_gaq.push(['_trackEvent', 'outbound-article', 'http:\/\/www.ecs.com.tw\/extra\/15u\/global\/p1.html', 'this technology']);\" target=\"_blank\">this technology<\/a> because it is said that using 3 times as much gold makes excellent contacts and provides better reliability and longer lifespan.<\/p>\n<p>Also mentioned before was the fact that both Nvidia SLI and AMD CrossFireX modes are supported. Along with being able to run a multi-GPU setup of your choice, you can also run your DDR3 memory at speeds of up to 2133MHz!<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/i1.wp.com\/alienbabeltech.com\/main\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/01\/ECSP67H2A27.jpg\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"display: block; float: none; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; border: 0px;\" title=\"ECS P67H2-A2 - 7\" src=\"http:\/\/i0.wp.com\/alienbabeltech.com\/main\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/01\/ECSP67H2A27_thumb.jpg?resize=240%2C180\" border=\"0\" alt=\"ECS P67H2-A2 - 7\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Another feature clearly represented is Rapid 333. This denotes the motherboard\u2019s support for USB 3.0, SATA 3.0 (6 Gb\/s) and eSATA 3.0 (6 Gb\/s). All three\u00a0 of these new standards are fully supported.<\/p>\n<p>EZ Charger is one of the features that isn\u2019t shown by a sticker and it is a very interesting one. Along the bottom of the board, one pair of USB headers are shrouded in grey plastic instead of white. These headers provide 3 times as much current than the regular USB ports. This allows you to charge high power devices via USB, such as the Apple iPad and others of that type.<\/p>\n<p> <\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Closing Remarks<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>With a Manufacturer Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) of US $180, the ECS P67H2-A2 Black Deluxe portrays itself as strong competition in the P67 motherboard market. You will be able to find it at online stores when the Sandy Bridge CPUs come into full swing.
