{"id":23232,"date":"2011-02-16T04:50:37","date_gmt":"2011-02-16T04:50:37","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/alienbabeltech.com\/main\/?p=23232"},"modified":"2011-02-18T14:07:58","modified_gmt":"2011-02-18T14:07:58","slug":"a-gamers-perspective-of-kingstons-128-gb-ssd-vnow-series-revisited","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/alienbabeltech.com\/main\/a-gamers-perspective-of-kingstons-128-gb-ssd-vnow-series-revisited\/","title":{"rendered":"A Gamer\u2019s perspective of Kingston\u2019s 128 GB SSDNow V100 series \u2013 revisited"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>This is not going to be the usual Solid-State Drive (SSD) review touting the theoretical advantages of the SSD over the mechanical Hard Drive (HDD).\u00a0 This has been done over-and-over in many reviews and a particularly excellent evaluation was done by our own MrK on the earlier version of the same SSD that we are evaluating today &#8211; Kingston&#8217;s improved 128GB SSD<em>Now<\/em> <strong>V100<\/strong> SSD.<\/p>\n<p>The SSD<em>Now<\/em> V100 is a 100% Kingston-branded solid-state drive using the same JMicron 618 controller as the previous SSD<em>Now <\/em>V Series drive. The new V100 uses Toshiba\u2019s new 32nm NAND, therefore it has received a firmware upgrade plus performance enhancements in order to be optimized for the 32nm die shrink.\u00a0 However, instead of concentrating on the technical, we are going to be looking at the advantages that a PC gamer might have using a SSD over a fast mechanical hard drive.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/i0.wp.com\/alienbabeltech.com\/main\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/02\/SSD-1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-23858\" title=\"SSD-1\" src=\"http:\/\/i0.wp.com\/alienbabeltech.com\/main\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/02\/SSD-1.jpg?resize=300%2C233\" alt=\"\" srcset=\"http:\/\/i0.wp.com\/alienbabeltech.com\/main\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/02\/SSD-1.jpg?resize=300%2C233 300w, http:\/\/alienbabeltech.com\/main\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/02\/SSD-1.jpg 550w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Of course, we shall briefly rerun some of Karan&#8217;s synthetic and real world testing to see if we can see the performance improvements that Kingston promised over the older version, last year.\u00a0 To properly bring you this review, we purchased two Seagate 500GB 7200.12 HDDs from Buy.com for $40 each, shipped; $80 total costs for 1TB of total storage in two separate mechanical HDDs!\u00a0 Compare this to our 128GB Kingston SSD<em>Now<\/em> v100 which retails for $234.99 and we would have to say, the SSD had better be much faster.<\/p>\n<p>We have also noticed that pricing on SSDs have been dropping and currently this same SSD has been on sale at <a href=\"Kingston SSDNow V Series SNV425-S2\/128GB\">NewEgg<\/a> this week for $194.99 and there is a further $75 mail in rebate which brings the price down to $119 which is finally below the $1-per-gigabyte storage costs that have long been considered breakthrough low-pricing.<\/p>\n<p>Evaluating the Kingston SSD from a gamer&#8217;s perspective means finding the practical advantages of the SSD over the HDD, including more than three months of daily using it.\u00a0 Because a Solid-State Drive&#8217;s performance tends to degrade over time, many reviews are carried out with the SSD in a completely brand new state each time every single benchmark test is run.\u00a0 That means the SSD is erased after each test is run.\u00a0 How fair is that?\u00a0 We made sure to start out with all of our drives brand new, and then we used our drives in normal day-to-day usage and tested them against each other for the benchmarks that you will see.\u00a0 Read on as we share our three-month journey into the practical advantages of the SSD over the HDD from a gamer&#8217;s perspective.<\/p>\n<p>The SSD<em>Now<\/em> V100 is targeted as an upgrade path for mainstream consumers including gamers as a cost-effective performance upgrade option in upgrading a desktop or notebook. The older Kingston<em>Now <\/em>V-series 128GB SSD that MrK reviewed last year had a good price to performance ratio. With an updated controller and 32nm NAND, read and write performance has markedly increased from the previous-generation Kingston SSD<em>Now<\/em> V Series SSD.\u00a0 The older drive was capable of up to 200MB\/sec. read; 160MB\/sec. write whereas the new one can manage up to 250MB\/sec. read; 230MB\/sec. write; a solid improvement for the same list price<\/p>\n<p>Kingston has also introduced a 256GB capacity SSD with the SSD<em>Now<\/em> V100, giving consumers a higher-capacity option at a good price point.\u00a0 There are two kits available.\u00a0 The SSD<em>Now<\/em> V100 is available with the bundle upgrade kit which includes cloning software along with a 2.5&#8243; hard drive enclosure (notebook bundle only); or 3.5&#8243; brackets and SATA and power cables (desktop bundle only).\u00a0 We are evaluating the desktop bundle in this review.<\/p>\n<p>A firmware upgrade with the older SSD<em>Now<\/em> V Series such as our MrK evaluated last year, is not possible due to a process shrink.\u00a0 MrK&#8217;s older V Series uses 43nm NAND and our new V100 SSD<em>Now<\/em> uses 32nm NAND Flash. Kingston sent ABT the desktop SSD kit, we are evaluating it from the standpoint of loading Windows 7 onto it plus applications, and benchmarking it versus the hard drive with the identical setup.\u00a0 Now Kingston includes the brackets and SATA and power cables for the end user along with the cloning software so we also have the option of making the SSD the C drive and putting the bulk of the data on a mechanical storage drive.\u00a0 In this scenario, the SSD becomes a boot drive for the PC and it is an option that can work well.<\/p>\n<p>Setting up a SSD and a HDD together is beyond the scope of this article, but you will be able to access anything on the SSD lightning-fast to take advantage of your favorite applications and games and still use the mechanical drive seamlessly, just as it would be without the SSD as boot drive.\u00a0 Not all SSDs have great read and write times, so not every program will  benefit from being on a SSD, but all will benefit from the lightning-fast response  from the seek times that a SSD enjoys over the HDD.<\/p>\n<p>The difference with the notebook upgrade is that if had we gone down that route, Kingston would have sent us the notebook bundle.\u00a0 What we would have got instead is a 2.5&#8243; enclosure, the SSD<em>Now<\/em> V100 and cloning software.\u00a0 In that case, we would have installed the SSD into my notebook, plugged the old 5400 rpm HDD into the enclosure, popped in the disc and cloned the HDD onto the SSD.\u00a0 When finished, the old notebook HDD now becomes an external hard drive to give more storage.\u00a0 Or one can remove the notebook&#8217;s optical drive and use the SSD together with the old HDD.<\/p>\n<p>Let&#8217;s open the box.<\/p>\n<p><!--pagetitle:Introduction Windows 7 64-bit on one of our Seagate 500GB 7200.12 Barracuda hard drives along with ten fairly new games, favorite applications and benching tools.\u00a0 We put about 110GB or so of data on our HDD so that we would not have any issues cloning the HDD to the SSD and while still leaving room for additional files and applications to its maximum 119GB.\u00a0 We used the supplied Acronis cloning software on the Kingston-supplied CD to make a exact copy of our HDD and we were able to then boot from either drive.\u00a0 The cloning software is by Acronis and it is very fast and very easy to use.\u00a0 However, before we get to the benching, let&#8217;s recap the SSD and what makes it unique from mechanical drives.<\/p>\n<p>One mistake many enthusiasts make is to think of a SSD like a mechanical HDD.\u00a0 Instead, think of it as a giant flash drive with the strengths and weaknesses inherent to that kind of storage. MrK&#8217;s <a href=\"http:\/\/alienbabeltech.com\/main\/?p=19868&amp;all=1\">article<\/a> on the previous series of Kingston SSD<em>Now<\/em> is extraordinally well-written and detailed, and it would be good to review it if you are not familar with Solid-State storage.\u00a0 Also, here is his article on the faster but much more expensive <a href=\"http:\/\/alienbabeltech.com\/main\/?p=15999&amp;all=1\">Patriot TorqX 236 GB SSD<\/a> which goes into even more detail.\u00a0 MrK explains the strengths and weaknesses of the SSD. \u00a0 Instead of repeating his information, this section will be the briefiest of recaps and we will focus instead on secure erase and performance degradation.<\/p>\n<p>Because of the way data is written to and erased from a SSD, the write speeds will go down as more and more data is written to it.\u00a0\u00a0 There is a definite need for TRIM and other garbage collection.\u00a0 When Windows 7 identifies the drive as a SSD, it enables the TRIM  command for the drive when files are deleted from it. The TRIM command  tells the SSD controller to delete the pages on the NAND flash block  when the user deletes the data.\u00a0 The  entire block containing the data is copied into the memory cache and then  the block is erased.\u00a0 After this procedure, the data without the user-deleted part is rewritten back to the block from the memory cache.  This results in longer delete times, but allows the write performance to remain nearly like-new.<\/p>\n<h3>Secure Erase and Performance Degradation<\/h3>\n<p>A secure erase restores your drive to a like-new state where each cell is effectively zeroed out.\u00a0 So its performance would be like-new also as if it was fresh out of the box.\u00a0 Simply cloning over from an HDD to SSD would not zero out the cells like a secure erase would.\u00a0 This is because you&#8217;re not guaranteed to be writing over the same cells.\u00a0 In a clone, information is just being transferred over, not like erasing a cell first and then writing to it.\u00a0 On a good SSD such as Kingston&#8217;s SSD<em>Now<\/em> v100 series,\u00a0 there is simply no need to secure erase periodically, but whenever you format or re-image your drive, it&#8217;s a great idea.<\/p>\n<p>This is perhaps the most detailed yet simplified step-by-step way to secure erase your SSD &#8211; something you must do (for safety) if you ever sell it:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.markc.me.uk\/MarkC\/Blog\/Entries\/2009\/8\/13_Erasing_an_SSD.html\" onclick=\"_gaq.push(['_trackEvent', 'outbound-article', 'http:\/\/www.markc.me.uk\/MarkC\/Blog\/Entries\/2009\/8\/13_Erasing_an_SSD.html', 'http:\/\/www.markc.me.uk\/MarkC\/Blog\/Entries\/2009\/8\/13_Erasing_an_SSD.html']);\" >http:\/\/www.markc.me.uk\/MarkC\/Blog\/Entries\/2009\/8\/13_Erasing_an_SSD.html<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Be aware that your SSD&#8217;s BIOS may have some sort of mechanism that prevents the secure erase tool from detecting the SSD for secure erase.\u00a0 We had no such issues with our Kingston drive but we wish that they had included a secure erase tool with the drive.<\/p>\n<h3>Note on testing.<\/h3>\n<p>We began our testing with our SSD in a brand-new state as delivered by Kingston.\u00a0 We also began with two brand-new identical Seagate 500GB HDDs which are the 12th generation of their 7200 rpm desktop series.\u00a0 We installed Windows 7 64-bit operating system and 100 GB of programs, applications and games.\u00a0 Next we used the Acronis Cloning software included on the included Kingston CD to effortlessly copy in just a few minutes the entire drive image to the Kingston SSD which now became a bootable drive.\u00a0 For certain write tests, all of the data had to be erased on the SSD and we also ran these same tests on a formatted HDD with no operating system installed.\u00a0 Generally, all of our testing was done with the SSD in a used condition and the drive was not erased (as many benchers do) before each bench that is run or after a single day of normal day-to-day use.<\/p>\n<p>Although we have evaluation copies of some of the SW we tested, we used the freeware or shareware version if there was a choice.\u00a0 There are some remarkable tools available for testing hard disk and solid-state drive performance and all of the ones that we used are considered excellent.<\/p>\n<p><strong>About Kingston Digital, Inc.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Kingston Digital, Inc. Everest as a name is dead, but its lead developer, Tamas Mikl\u00f3s the developer of Everest, AIDA16 and AIDA32, has a new company called FinalWire, based in Hungary.\u00a0 Like Everest, AIDA64 is an overall PC diagnostics tool and it look and functions much the same.<\/p>\n<p>Just a part of AIDA64 Benchmark will measure the raw performance of:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>AccessRate<\/li>\n<li>Burst Rate<\/li>\n<li>Random Access test<\/li>\n<li>Write benchmark<\/li>\n<li>Hard Disk information which includes partition information, supported features, firmware version, serial number, disk capacity, buffer size, transfer mode<\/li>\n<li> Hard Disk Health<\/li>\n<li>S.M.A.R.T. Information (<strong>S<\/strong>elf-<strong>M<\/strong>onitoring <strong>A<\/strong>nalysis and <strong>R<\/strong>eporting <strong>T<\/strong>echnology)<\/li>\n<li>Power On Time<\/li>\n<li>Error scan and Temperature display<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>However, the most important difference in drives that AIDA64 will measure is the Disk Benchmark. There are four synthetic and three practice tests. The synthetic tests determine the sequential and random read and write performance of the SSD and are carried out without use of the operating system caches. In Seq-test the program measures how long it takes to read and write a 1 GB file respectively. In the 4K test the read and write performance for random 4K blocks is determined. The 4K-64-thrd test corresponds to the 4K procedure except that the read and write operations on 64 threads are distributed as with the usual start of a program.<\/p>\n<p>In the copying test following folders are created: ISO (two large files), programs (typical program folder with many small files) and games (folder of a game with small and large files). These three folders are copied with a simple copy command of the operating system. The cache is turned on for this test. A PCMark Vantage score is a rough measure of your computer\u2019s performance across a variety of common tasks. The measurement for the PCMark Vantage hard drive suite is the total score with  the scoring for each test further broken down. There are three tests, each of which  measure different aspects of a PC\u2019s performance. Then that game folder\u00a0 is copied to another folder on the  same drive using Microsoft\u2019s Robocopy GUI and the time taken is noted.  This real world benchmark tests both the read and the write speeds of the drive  at the same time. MrK and I both choose <em>Crysis Warhead<\/em> for this purpose as  this game has a lot of files of various sizes. This should test the hard  disk transfer speeds across vast sizes of files and is indeed a real world  scenario.<\/p>\n<p>The game was patched with the 1.1 and 1.1 hotfix patch which introduces  the 64-bit executable. The test is performed 3 times and the results  averaged.\u00a0\u00a0 The HDD took 2 minutes and 47 seconds on average to copy 5.83GB.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/i1.wp.com\/alienbabeltech.com\/main\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/02\/WarheadHDD_2min47s.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-23787\" title=\"WarheadHDD_2min47s\" src=\"http:\/\/i1.wp.com\/alienbabeltech.com\/main\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/02\/WarheadHDD_2min47s.jpg?resize=500%2C314\" alt=\"\" srcset=\"http:\/\/i1.wp.com\/alienbabeltech.com\/main\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/02\/WarheadHDD_2min47s.jpg?resize=500%2C314 500w, http:\/\/alienbabeltech.com\/main\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/02\/WarheadHDD_2min47s-300x188.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The SDD took 1 minutes and 51 seconds on average to copy 5.83GB.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/i2.wp.com\/alienbabeltech.com\/main\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/02\/Warhead_SSD_1min51s.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-23788\" title=\"Warhead_SSD_1min51s\" src=\"http:\/\/i2.wp.com\/alienbabeltech.com\/main\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/02\/Warhead_SSD_1min51s.jpg?resize=500%2C247\" alt=\"\" srcset=\"http:\/\/i2.wp.com\/alienbabeltech.com\/main\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/02\/Warhead_SSD_1min51s.jpg?resize=500%2C247 500w, http:\/\/alienbabeltech.com\/main\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/02\/Warhead_SSD_1min51s-300x148.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Need we say more?\u00a0 You are saving nearly one minute; nearly three minutes for the HDD to copy the same files that the SSD does in less than two!!<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">We have already seen very slight improvements in video editing and multi-tasking when the drives are accessed and huge gains in copying big files, but will it also translate to improved performance in gaming?  We will look at gaming load times now that we are finished with the synthetic and real world benchmarks.<\/p>\n<p><!--pagetitle:Real World Tests --><!--nextpage--><\/p>\n<h2><strong>Gaming Load times<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong> <\/strong><\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Solid-state drives won\u2019t increase game framerates but they can certainly reduce game startup times and save\/load times.\u00a0 This means less time waiting for the game to load and more time playing the game.\u00a0 This is an issue of &#8220;immersion&#8221;.\u00a0 If it takes a long time to load a level or an autosave, it may cause irritation, and getting back quickly into the game after your character dies is important for staying immersed in any game.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">For the ten games that follow, we load autosaves and also complete levels to compare the speed of the SSD vs the HDD.\u00a0 The first test (#1) represents the average of the initial loading times &#8211; the first time you load a level or an autosave; and the second test (#2) represents the subsequent load-time average (which is generally quicker).<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">In the following chart we test all of our games at 2560&#215;1600 with fully maxed-out details and with AA\/AF enabled (except for <em>Metro 2033<\/em> which has DOF, AA and PhysX disabled).\u00a0 <em>H.A.W.X. 2 <\/em>measures the time it takes to load the in-game benchmark as it is very repeatable and consistent.\u00a0 Similarly, <em>Resident Evil 5<\/em> and<em> Just Cause 2<\/em> are tested by measuring the time it takes to launch their respective benchmarks.\u00a0 In contrast, we load the very last checkpoint in <em>Metro 2033<\/em> within the last level of the game and compare the time it takes for the SSD versus loading from the HDD.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/i0.wp.com\/alienbabeltech.com\/main\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/02\/PCGames-1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-23844\" title=\"PCGames-1\" src=\"http:\/\/i0.wp.com\/alienbabeltech.com\/main\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/02\/PCGames-1.jpg?resize=482%2C628\" alt=\"\" srcset=\"http:\/\/i0.wp.com\/alienbabeltech.com\/main\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/02\/PCGames-1.jpg?resize=482%2C628 482w, http:\/\/alienbabeltech.com\/main\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/02\/PCGames-1-230x300.jpg 230w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 482px) 100vw, 482px\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>For <em>Far Cry 2<\/em>, we compare the time it takes to load the Short Ranch benchmark as it is similar to loading a level.\u00a0 We do a similar thing for<em> F1 2010, DiRT 2 <\/em>and<em> Metro 2033<\/em> by comparing the loading times of their benchmarks (using the first load times versus the subsequent loading time).\u00a0 For <em>Half Life 2 Episode 2<\/em>, we load an autosave in level one on the HDD and compare how long it takes for the same autosave to load on the SSD.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/i0.wp.com\/alienbabeltech.com\/main\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/02\/PCGames-2.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-23843\" title=\"PCGames-2\" src=\"http:\/\/i0.wp.com\/alienbabeltech.com\/main\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/02\/PCGames-2.jpg?resize=482%2C699\" alt=\"\" srcset=\"http:\/\/i0.wp.com\/alienbabeltech.com\/main\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/02\/PCGames-2.jpg?resize=482%2C699 482w, http:\/\/alienbabeltech.com\/main\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/02\/PCGames-2-206x300.jpg 206w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 482px) 100vw, 482px\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><strong> <\/strong><\/p>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Let\u2019s look at <em>Crysis <\/em>and<em> Crysis Warhead<\/em> now.\u00a0 In each case, we are measuring how long it takes to load a complete level by measuring how long it takes to launch each game&#8217;s benchmark run.\u00a0 First we average how long it takes to run the bench for the first time (rebooting our PC in-between tests); or your aim &#8211; but it may improve immersion by getting you back into the game a bit more quickly!<\/p>\n<p><strong> <\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong> <\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong> <\/strong><\/p>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Windows Startup and Shutdown<\/h2>\n<p>Now we come to what is arguably one of the most frustrating part of Windows &#8211; waiting for it to start-up or shutdown.\u00a0 For some of us, it is not important as we rarely start-up or shutdown our PCs.\u00a0 For others, it is a painful process to watch &#8211; while others of us do something else while our programs start-up or shut down.\u00a0 Let&#8217;s first look at the average shutdown time which includes our average &#8220;fast&#8221; With more and more motherboard manufacturers offering SATA 3 6Gb\/s ports, the ceiling for maximum transfer speeds for disk drives has been doubled from the\u00a0 SATA 2 3Gb\/s standard. We have seen the SSD develop improved new controllers that bring faster speeds &#8211; especially to read speeds. We have watched this technology also get cheaper over time and it is much more accessible to the regular consumer and not just for enthusiasts.\u00a0 The Kingston SSD<em>Now <\/em>V100 series offers an incredible bang-for-buck and we have noted it is currently on sale (at the time of writing this evaluation) with its mail-in-rebate rebate bringing its final costs down to below the amazing $1-per-gigabyte value.<\/p>\n<p>The 128 GB Kingston SSD<em>Now<\/em> V100 series SSD offers good performance for an affordable price and it is a solid improvement over last year&#8217;s older V series. Last year&#8217;s SSD<em>Now<\/em> V (not 100) drive showed some weird performance characteristics. When it was compared to the much more expensive and faster overall, Patriot TorqX M28 256GB SSD, the Kingston SSD would sometimes lose on random write tests and win on others, depending on the size of the block of data being transferred.\u00a0 We have seen great improvements in this area and the drive still retains the great characteristics which make it incredibly faster than a mechanical hard drive.<\/p>\n<p>It is not &#8220;mandatory&#8221; to have a SSD if you use your PC only for gaming.\u00a0 A hardcore gamer would more likely save his money by buying a large fast mechanical drive and upgrading his graphics instead.\u00a0 Mechanical HDDs have got quite fast for gaming and their only disadvantage compared to the SSD is waiting a second or two longer for your autosave to load; or even longer for an entire level to load.\u00a0 However, if a gamer is impatient and wants to get right back into the game, then the SSD will definitely improve immersion and decrease frustration.<\/p>\n<p>I would have liked to see Kingston offer a secure erase tool for this drive; in every other respect, it is a well-rounded SSD desktop bundle with a super balance of performance to low-price.\u00a0 Since the PC that this editor uses for benching has well over 250GB of just games installed, it is not practical to use a 128GB drive for benching.\u00a0 Neither is it practical to use it as a boot drive because we use two 500GB HDDs &#8211; one for Nvidia drivers and one for AMD drivers &#8211; and we have returned to using our Seagate HDDs for all activities.\u00a0 We really miss the responsiveness and quick-loading of the SSD and especially the quick-loading of Windows and game levels.<\/p>\n<p>We are going to be using our Kingston SSD<em>Now<\/em> V100 128GB solid-state drive in our notebook.\u00a0 It will easily replace the 250GB 5400 rpm drive that is pre-installed.\u00a0 Since we do ninety percent of our work on our notebook, we expect a world of difference in every way and we may well have a &#8220;Part two&#8221;
