In another 30 years, even these marvels will join the ranks of memorabilia at the Computer Museum.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><a href=\"http:\/\/i0.wp.com\/alienbabeltech.com\/main\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/10\/Untitled-24.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-27404\" title=\"Untitled-2\" src=\"http:\/\/i0.wp.com\/alienbabeltech.com\/main\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/10\/Untitled-24.jpg?resize=513%2C214\" alt=\"\" srcset=\"http:\/\/i0.wp.com\/alienbabeltech.com\/main\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/10\/Untitled-24.jpg?resize=513%2C214 513w, http:\/\/alienbabeltech.com\/main\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/10\/Untitled-24-300x125.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 513px) 100vw, 513px\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\" \/><\/a><strong>Figure 2 \u2013 Computing Evolution \u2013 <\/strong>Computing power won\u2019t disappear but it will continue to evolve; and today\u2019s hugely popular tablets and smartphones are just waypoints along the road.\u00a0 In 30 years, you\u2019ll wonder why you even carried them with you to get your information, news, data, and entertainment.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><strong>Fading Shape<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The computer as we know it will be the first to go.<\/p>\n<p>Why do you need a personal device when cloud computing, cloud storage and virtual computing are here or practically here?<\/p>\n<p>The smart network is rapidly rising; and the global roll-out of IPv6, in its simplest terms, is an Internet layer protocol for providing end-to-end datagram transmission across multiple IP networks.<\/p>\n<p>You\u2019ll have your own phone number (ID) and the network will be smart enough to know where you are so your communications \u2013 written, video, audio &#8211; can be routed to the nearest enabled device \u2013 your car, TV, shopping cart display, fast food digital sign, watch, clock radio, you name it.<\/p>\n<p>Right now, you\u2019re probably thinking like John Anderton, <em>\u201c<\/em><em>It&#8217;s too fast. Slow it down.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Intel estimates that over the next four years, there will be 2-3 billion Internet users (approaching half of the world population) and more than 15 billion connected devices.<\/p>\n<p>With chip sizes shrinking and becoming increasingly complex, we\u2019ll see a healthy mixture of general purpose and specialty processors that use less and less power to perform more and more tasks.<\/p>\n<p>It probably shouldn\u2019t be too hard for the chip folks to put the\u00ad CPU, GPU, video, encryption, baseband and other operations in something so small it will work in anything, everything.<\/p>\n<p>Increasingly, the devices are all connected over the wireless mesh networks to larger and larger \u201csystems\u201d that manage content traffic and store personal information as well as company and general information.<\/p>\n<p>John Anderton and you will probably say, <em>\u201c<\/em><em>My God, I forgot there were so many.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<blockquote><p><a href=\"http:\/\/i2.wp.com\/alienbabeltech.com\/main\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/10\/Untitled-33.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-27405\" title=\"Untitled-3\" src=\"http:\/\/i2.wp.com\/alienbabeltech.com\/main\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/10\/Untitled-33.jpg?resize=353%2C447\" alt=\"\" srcset=\"http:\/\/i2.wp.com\/alienbabeltech.com\/main\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/10\/Untitled-33.jpg?resize=353%2C447 353w, http:\/\/alienbabeltech.com\/main\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/10\/Untitled-33-236x300.jpg 236w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 353px) 100vw, 353px\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\" \/><\/a><strong>Figure 3 \u2013 Personalizing Information \u2013 <\/strong>Today, people want to control their own information gathering; and interactive display signage kiosks such as the one above are an important step in meeting the consumer\u2019s wants\/needs.\u00a0\u00a0 The kiosks allow the consumer to ask questions tailored to their wants and needs and determine what the best product is for him\/her.\u00a0 They eliminate the need for the traditional sales clerk and produce a more satisfied customer because he\/she made the decision. <strong>Source \u2013 BrightSign<\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Semi-intelligent signage is already being used around the globe which enables consumers to view and learn more about products and determine which ones they want to purchase.<\/p>\n<p>Some of the more advanced systems even show you wearing, using the product in virtual mode.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><a href=\"http:\/\/i0.wp.com\/alienbabeltech.com\/main\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/10\/Untitled-43.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-27406\" title=\"Untitled-4\" src=\"http:\/\/i0.wp.com\/alienbabeltech.com\/main\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/10\/Untitled-43.jpg?resize=463%2C342\" alt=\"\" srcset=\"http:\/\/i0.wp.com\/alienbabeltech.com\/main\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/10\/Untitled-43.jpg?resize=463%2C342 463w, http:\/\/alienbabeltech.com\/main\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/10\/Untitled-43-300x221.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 463px) 100vw, 463px\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\" \/><\/a><strong>Figure 4 \u2013 On-the-Go Displays \u2013 <\/strong>Subway display islands that enable customers to use their smartphone to make an instant purchase on-the-go and have the products delivered to their home are a logical first step. Consumers will go to a 3D interactive digital sign, make a selection, \u201ctry it on,\u201d make the purchase and be on their way.\u00a0 It sure beats shopping with the wife. <strong>Source \u2013 HomePlus Retail<\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><strong>Evolving Trials<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>A rudimentary alternative is being tested in South Korea by HomePlus, one of the country\u2019s largest retailers.\u00a0 It lets you shop at display areas and use your smartphone to scan a barcode to place an order which is delivered to the home.<\/p>\n<p>South Korea will have an estimated 20M plus smartphone users by the end of the year or about half of the 49 million population.<\/p>\n<p>Delivery is $1-$4 which beats running from store to store, mall to mall.<\/p>\n<p>You go about your business or life without missing a beat and wait for the delivery\u2026yeah, we\u2019re still trying to figure out a way for it to just arrive!<\/p>\n<p>The next step (O.K., 2-3 steps) will be to view the product on digital signage anywhere in 3D, \u00a0virtually try it on\/work with it and purchase it using your personal ID (iris scan, thumbprint, facial recognition or \u2026).\u00a0 Then, when you come in the sign will simply say, <em>\u201c<\/em><em>Hello Mr. Yukkamoto and welcome back!\u201d<\/em><em><\/em><\/p>\n<p>Facial recognition won\u2019t work?<\/p>\n<p>In Britain, it\u2019s estimated that every citizen is photographed 300 times a day.<\/p>\n<p>Don\u2019t get paranoid; but just check around your neighborhood, the office, the store, the street corner, your bathroom (you never know!)<\/p>\n<p>Soon\u2026there will be an app for that.<\/p>\n<p>At the same time, screens are changing\u2026rapidly.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><a href=\"http:\/\/i1.wp.com\/alienbabeltech.com\/main\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/10\/Untitled-53.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-27407\" title=\"Untitled-5\" src=\"http:\/\/i1.wp.com\/alienbabeltech.com\/main\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/10\/Untitled-53.jpg?resize=367%2C324\" alt=\"\" srcset=\"http:\/\/i1.wp.com\/alienbabeltech.com\/main\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/10\/Untitled-53.jpg?resize=367%2C324 367w, 3D Evolution \u2013 <\/strong>A lot of folks like to say the industry is trying too hard and people just don\u2019t want 3D TV and a bunch of dumb glasses.\u00a0 In five years, you\u2019ll wonder why people said 3D TV would never take off and won\u2019t remember being entertained in 2D.\u00a0 Until then, sit back, live with it, enjoy it.\u00a0 <strong>Source \u2013 Panasonic<\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>The TV industry is still struggling to convince people that 3D high-def television is here even though quality content is still woefully lacking.\u00a0 Then there\u2019s the issue of the<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Both of these are works in progress.<\/p>\n<p><strong>We Love Our Screens<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>But interactive, 3D screen technology will continue to improve, demand\/sales will grow and slowly they\u2019ll not only be in your family room but everywhere you<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>When it rolls out John Anderton will reassure us, <em>\u201c<\/em><em>There&#8217;s nothing wrong with this system it is&#8230;\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<blockquote><p><a Touch Me \u2013 <\/strong>On almost every system you interact with, every device you handle today, you expect to simply tap the screen a few times and get the information you want.\u00a0 Watch a little kid come up to your notebook and watch them instinctively try to enlarge or shrink pictures with their fingers.\u00a0 Only your TV is a passive screen, but that too will change\u2026significantly.\u00a0 <strong>Source \u2013 DisplaySearch<\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>LCD displays will grow at a compound annual rate of 39 percent through 2014 and there are a number of \u201cinteresting\u201d screen technologies to keep us entertained everywhere, all the time.<\/p>\n<p>Soon, you won\u2019t even think twice about walking past large interactive signs.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><a href=\"http:\/\/i1.wp.com\/alienbabeltech.com\/main\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/10\/Untitled-73.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter in stores, restaurants, entertainment\/educational\/worship facilities and businesses are rapidly being replaced with solutions that bring the information to life.\u00a0 <strong>Source \u2013 glass in their name.<\/p>\n<p>The thing we noticed was there was computer power everywhere but none of the \u201ccomputers\u201d we\u2019re used to interacting with today.<\/p>\n<p>And it all looks\/feels natural, logical.<\/p>\n<p>Your information is available to you wherever you are, when you want it\u2026heck, it will probably be telling you before you ask.<\/p>\n<p>We\u2019re just not
