I am such a nice guy.\u201d<\/em><em><\/em><\/p>\n<p>Contrary to the sociologists\u2019 analysis, guys in their 20s aren\u2019t in some limbo state &#8212; a hybrid state of semi-hormonal adolescence and responsible self-reliance.\u00a0 They\u2019ve struggled with finding an acceptable adult identity since at least the mid-19th century.<\/p>\n<p>As John Smith said, <em>\u201c<\/em><em>I was born without a conscience.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Females have the audacity to complain when guys talk about <strong><em>Star Wars<\/em><\/strong> as though it\u2019s a movie made for people half their age.<\/p>\n<p>They find it unusual that a guy would like to spend an evening perfecting his eye\/hand coordination with video games<\/p>\n<p>Gals claim the guys are more like the kids they babysat, rather than the fathers who took them home.<\/p>\n<h3 align=\"center\"><strong>US Male Population (Millions and % of Total)<\/strong><\/h3>\n<blockquote><p><a href=\"http:\/\/i0.wp.com\/alienbabeltech.com\/main\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/11\/Untitled-31.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-27711\" \u2013 It s<\/strong>hould be pretty easy for guys to hook up with the right girl because they have more to choose from.\u00a0 Put another way, guys are in short supply.\u00a0 Not sure why women are so picky but marketers love the idea that guys have disposable income and they\u2019re more predictable.\u00a0 <strong>Source \u2013 U.S. Census Bureau<\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>There may be fewer males than females but guys have got, they buy stuff.<\/p>\n<p>That\u2019s why companies, marketers have spent so much time learning about them.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Guys Count<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>eMarketer estimated there are 95.9 million males online or 48.2% of the U.S. iNet population, compared with 103.2 million females.<\/p>\n<h3 align=\"center\"><strong>Internet Usage by Adults, by Gender<\/strong><\/h3>\n<blockquote><p><a href=\"http:\/\/i1.wp.com\/alienbabeltech.com\/main\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/11\/Untitled-41.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-27712\" title=\"Untitled-4\" src=\"http:\/\/i1.wp.com\/alienbabeltech.com\/main\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/11\/Untitled-41.jpg?resize=439%2C145\" alt=\"\" srcset=\"http:\/\/i1.wp.com\/alienbabeltech.com\/main\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/11\/Untitled-41.jpg?resize=439%2C145 439w, \u2013 <\/strong>Men \u2013 O.K., guys \u2013 get online more and spend more time per session online.\u00a0 Guys are more involved in sophisticated game play, product\/service research and finding stuff.\u00a0 <strong>Source \u2013 Gallup Poll<\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>But the scale now tips in the guys\u2019 favor.<\/p>\n<p>Nielsen Online recorded an average of 60 PC sessions per male iNet user and only 54 sessions for females.<\/p>\n<p>In addition, they reported that males spent 4.4 hours online longer than females.<\/p>\n<p>Gallup found that 53% of males spent more than 1 hour per day on the Internet, compared to 42% of females.<\/p>\n<p>Being more active online, it\u2019s only natural that they lead the way in using the iNet and social media to stay in contact and share information with friends.<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><strong>Method of Staying in Touch with Male Friends<\/strong><\/p>\n<blockquote><p><a href=\"http:\/\/i2.wp.com\/alienbabeltech.com\/main\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/11\/Untitled-51.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-27713\" title=\"Untitled-5\" src=\"http:\/\/i2.wp.com\/alienbabeltech.com\/main\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/11\/Untitled-51.jpg?resize=356%2C367\" alt=\"\" srcset=\"http:\/\/i2.wp.com\/alienbabeltech.com\/main\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/11\/Untitled-51.jpg?resize=356%2C367 356w, http:\/\/alienbabeltech.com\/main\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/11\/Untitled-51-291x300.jpg 291w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 356px) 100vw, 356px\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\" \/><\/a><strong>Staying in Touch \u2013 <\/strong>Younger men prefer to stay in touch texting or on the phone.\u00a0 The other preferred option is exchanging information, ideas on Facebook.\u00a0 Older men prefer the old standbys \u2013 email or phone.\u00a0 <strong>Source \u2013 Askman.com, Ipsos<\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Facebook was edged out by texting as the prime way for men to stay in touch with their friends.<\/p>\n<p>While older men relied on email and telephone, guys showed less reliance on these communications choices.<\/p>\n<p>As for Twitter, 60% said they didn\u2019t use it because they considered it worthless.\u00a0 Twelve percent didn\u2019t know what it was, 8.5% said they used it \u201cregularly.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The median number of lifetime tweets per user?\u00a0 <strong><em>One!<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In fact, 90% of the tweets come from 10% of the folks.<\/p>\n<p>True, Nielsen found that 55% of smartphone users 15-24 are female, but guys have a closer identification with their smartphone.<\/p>\n<p>In addition:<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">&#8211;\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 72% use maps, GPS<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">&#8211;\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 72% also communicate with friends more with these devices<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">&#8211;\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 70% are very comfortable using location-based services<\/p>\n<p>You probably think \u2013 men hunt, women gather and men want to get in\/out quickly while women browse, linger.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Guys Buy<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Nope\u2026guys think, plan, research as much if not more!<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><a href=\"http:\/\/i0.wp.com\/alienbabeltech.com\/main\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/11\/Untitled-61.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-27714\" title=\"Untitled-6\" src=\"http:\/\/i0.wp.com\/alienbabeltech.com\/main\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/11\/Untitled-61.jpg?resize=448%2C291\" alt=\"\" srcset=\"http:\/\/i0.wp.com\/alienbabeltech.com\/main\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/11\/Untitled-61.jpg?resize=448%2C291 448w, http:\/\/alienbabeltech.com\/main\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/11\/Untitled-61-300x194.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 448px) 100vw, 448px\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\" \/><\/a><strong>Deep Thinkers \u2013 <\/strong>Not certain how men got tagged with the idea that they are shallow.\u00a0 Today\u2019s guys think, research, plan a lot when they\u2019re considering a new product\/service.\u00a0\u00a0 They also take advantage of online\/on-phone discounts and rebates.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Guys use their phones to:<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">&#8211;\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 confirm or justify purchases by getting reviews<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">&#8211;\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 check for better prices<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">&#8211;\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 look for coupons, use coupons they already received<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">&#8211;\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 compare nutritional information, check recipes<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">&#8211;\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 and increasingly, they come into the store with a picture on their phone of what they want<\/p>\n<p>Marketers have to pay attention to in-store navigation to assist the male shopper (trust us, they\u2019re not going to ask a sales person).<\/p>\n<p>That\u2019s why firms have mobile-optimized sites and are integrating mobile with in-store offerings to enhance \u201cthe guy connection.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>This may be why guys have a shorter path to purchase than women.<\/p>\n<p>They check, discuss with peers and look to spend less time in the store.<\/p>\n<p>This is one of the reasons in-store informative digital signage and kiosks have grown in recent years.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><a href=\"http:\/\/i2.wp.com\/alienbabeltech.com\/main\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/11\/Untitled-71.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter \u2013<\/strong>Digital signage kiosks such as the interactive kiosks shown above give guys all the information\/assistance they need.\u00a0\u00a0 This one was developed for European\u00a0 sportswear manufacturer ODLO to showcase their\u00a0 high-technology cycling undergarments.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Kiosks can include complex interactive displays with multiple devices including touch screen and bar code scanning, multiple languages.\u00a0 <strong>Source &#8211; BrightSign<\/strong><strong><\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Guys are reluctant to ask clerks for information\/assistance.<\/p>\n<p>Joe Monday responded, <em>\u201cWe don&#8217;t pay too much attention to it here.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p>They use their smartphone and informational, interactive displays to get the information they want\/need to make a knowledgeable buying decision.<\/p>\n<p><strong>JIT Information<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>With some of the more advanced WiFi-enabled signage solutions marketers, content developers and even store merchandising managers can test audio\/video\/text messages and rotate messages based on time of day\/day of week.<\/p>\n<p>In real-time they can change signage messages that tie into mobile messages and quickly evaluate the message success\/failure.<\/p>\n<p>But once the guy has made his purchasing decision, its outta\u2019 there because there are things to do!<\/p>\n<p>Single guys have never been civilization\u2019s most responsible actors\u2026just check the movies they gotta\u2019 see.<\/p>\n<p>Just don\u2019t think of them a shallow or in that awkward pre-adult stage.<\/p>\n<p>Since the beginning of time, girls became women simply by reaching physical maturity.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Tough Road<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Guys had to pass a test, get a job.\u00a0 That\u2019s tough in today\u2019s fierce job market.<\/p>\n<p>That\u2019s why John Smith commented, <em>\u201cI was just as broke as when I arrived, but something would turn up.
