ABT readers have been following its progress since it was announced this January at CES 2013.\u00a0 SHIELD is a hand-held game console with a five-inch display using the fastest available Tegra 4 processor, 2GB of RAM and 16GB of storage with further\u00a0expansion available through microSD.\u00a0 The price is $349. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.newegg.com\" onclick=\"_gaq.push(['_trackEvent', 'outbound-article', 'http:\/\/www.newegg.com', 'Newegg']);\" onclick=\"s_objectID=&quot;http:\/\/www.newegg.com\/_1&quot;;return this.s_oc?this.s_oc(e):true\">Newegg<\/a>, GameStop, Micro Center and Canada Computers will all carry SHIELD. It uses Android 4.2 Jelly Bean and supports 802.11n WiFi, Bluetooth, and GPS, together with a\u00a0HDMI output so you can also play games on your TV.<\/p>\n<p>SHIELD\u00a0works with Nvidia&#8217;s GeForce game streaming service which is\u00a0currently in beta.\u00a0 This allows\u00a0streaming PC games from your Nvidia video card-equipped PC to your SHIELD mobile device over your home network so you can play games\u00a0anywhere in the house.<\/p>\n<p>SHIELD is an\u00a0amazing new open platform gaming portable which is\u00a0the best way to play Android games, working with both Tegra-optimized and regular Android games \u2013 as well as with\u00a0Android apps.\u00a0 Nvidia has several recommended titles which have been optimized for the Shield controller to make 720p handheld gaming a reality.\u00a0 Steam games are also available to the SHIELD gamer.<\/p>\n<p>SHIELD comes with\u00a0<em>Sonic 4 Episode II<\/em>, and <em>Expendable: Rearmed pre<\/em>loaded.\u00a0\u00a0Gamers will be able to immediately access Google Play available, including Tegra 4 optimized titles.
