However, the Titan, and to a lesser extent the GTX 690, are special-purpose cards while the GTX 780 Ti is a video card that attempts to capture the performance of the highest-end cards and is aimed at the highest end of PC gamers.<\/p>\n<p>The GTX 780 Ti is Nvidia&#8217;s brand-new single-GPU flagship video card based on GK110 just as the $1000 Titan and the now $500 GTX 780 are.\u00a0 At $699, the GTX 780 Ti replaces the GTX 780 which was recently selling for about $650, and both are offered with a 3-game Holiday Bundle including <a href=\"http:\/\/ctt.marketwire.com\/?release=1066244&amp;id=3628150&amp;type=1&amp;url=http%3a%2f%2fwww.geforce.com%2fgames-applications%2fpc-games%2fassassins-creed-4-black-flag%23source%3dpr\" onclick=\"_gaq.push(['_trackEvent', 'outbound-article', 'http:\/\/ctt.marketwire.com\/?release=1066244&amp;id=3628150&amp;type=1&amp;url=http%3a%2f%2fwww.geforce.com%2fgames-applications%2fpc-games%2fassassins-creed-4-black-flag%23source%3dpr', 'Assassin&#8217;s Creed IV&#8211;Black Flag']);\" rel=\"nofollow\"><em style=\"font-style: italic;\">Assassin&#8217;s Creed IV&#8211;Black Flag<\/em><\/a>, <em>Tom Clancy&#8217;s Splinter Cell: Blacklist<\/em> and <a href=\"http:\/\/ctt.marketwire.com\/?release=1066244&amp;id=3628156&amp;type=1&amp;url=http%3a%2f%2fwww.geforce.com%2fgames-applications%2fpc-games%2fbatman-arkham-origins%23source%3dpr\" onclick=\"_gaq.push(['_trackEvent', 'outbound-article', 'http:\/\/ctt.marketwire.com\/?release=1066244&amp;id=3628156&amp;type=1&amp;url=http%3a%2f%2fwww.geforce.com%2fgames-applications%2fpc-games%2fbatman-arkham-origins%23source%3dpr', 'Batman: Arkham Origins']);\" rel=\"nofollow\"><em style=\"font-style: italic;\">Batman: Arkham Origins<\/em><\/a>.\u00a0 This time, Nvidia is aiming for well above GTX Titan performance on a single card but with 3GB of vRAM instead of 6GB.\u00a0 The GTX 780 Ti ships with fully enabled SMX units and with higher clocks, but without the double precision the Titan offers as a special-purpose card.<\/p>\n<p><strong>AMD&#8217;s R9 290X Challenge<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>When AMD released the R9 290X, they intended to beat the $650 GTX 780 and the $1000 Titan with a $550 card.\u00a0 Nvidia quickly responded by dropping the price of the GTX 780 to $499 and they also included a 3-game Holiday bundle of 3 very popular games as well as a $100 Shield discount.<a href=\"http:\/\/i0.wp.com\/alienbabeltech.com\/main\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/11\/holiday-bundle.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-39342\" alt=\"holiday-bundle\" src=\"http:\/\/i0.wp.com\/alienbabeltech.com\/main\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/11\/holiday-bundle.jpg?resize=300%2C169\" srcset=\"http:\/\/i0.wp.com\/alienbabeltech.com\/main\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/11\/holiday-bundle.jpg?resize=300%2C169 300w, http:\/\/alienbabeltech.com\/main\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/11\/holiday-bundle-150x84.jpg 150w, http:\/\/alienbabeltech.com\/main\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/11\/holiday-bundle.jpg 619w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\" \/><\/a>\u00a0\u00a0 On Tuesday of this week, AMD cranked up the fan and the clockspeed of their newest 2nd card, the $400 R9 290 (no X), and aimed once again for GTX 780 performance.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">However, Nvidia is determined to take back the performance crown with the GTX 780 Ti.\u00a0 ABT managed to get a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.newegg.com\/Product\/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814131522\" onclick=\"_gaq.push(['_trackEvent', 'outbound-article', 'http:\/\/www.newegg.com\/Product\/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814131522', 'PowerColor R9 290X BF4 edition']);\" >PowerColor R9 290X BF4 edition<\/a> from Newegg on Tuesday evening.\u00a0 This card is the &#8220;OC&#8221; The memory subsystem of GeForce GTX 780 Ti consists of six 64-bit memory controllers (384-bit) with 3GB of GDDR5 memory.\u00a0 The base clock speed of the GeForce GTX 780 Ti is 875MHz. The typical Boost Clock speed is 928MHz. The Boost Clock speed is based on the average GeForce GTX 780 Ti card running a wide variety of games and applications.\u00a0 Note that the actual Boost clock will vary from game-to-game depending on actual system conditions.<\/p>\n<p>The GeForce GTX 780 Ti\u2019s memory speed is 7000MHz data rate, an upgrade over the Titan&#8217;s and the GTX 780&#8217;s 6000MHz rated GDDR5.<a href=\"http:\/\/i1.wp.com\/alienbabeltech.com\/main\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/11\/specs.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-39340\" alt=\"specs\" src=\"http:\/\/i1.wp.com\/alienbabeltech.com\/main\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/11\/specs.jpg?resize=396%2C632\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\" \/><\/a><br \/>\nThe GeForce GTX 780 Ti reference board measures 10.5\u201d in length. Display outputs include two dual-link DVIs, one HDMI and one DisplayPort connector. One 8-pin PCIe power connector and one 6-pin PCIe power connector are required for operation.<\/p>\n<p><strong>How does the GK110 GTX 780 Ti compare with the Hawaii 290X die?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Nvidia believes that their larger die than the AMD Hawaii die gives them an automatic advantage.\u00a0 We have observed that the Quiet mode of the R9 290X exhibits a lot of variability in actually playing games due to thermal throttling because it runs hot and quickly throttles performance beginning at 94C with the fan at the default 40%.<a href=\"http:\/\/i0.wp.com\/alienbabeltech.com\/main\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/11\/cooler-by-design.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter  wp-image-39338\" alt=\"cooler-by-design\" src=\"http:\/\/i0.wp.com\/alienbabeltech.com\/main\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/11\/cooler-by-design.jpg?resize=477%2C278\" srcset=\"http:\/\/i0.wp.com\/alienbabeltech.com\/main\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/11\/cooler-by-design.jpg?resize=477%2C278 596w, http:\/\/alienbabeltech.com\/main\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/11\/cooler-by-design-150x87.jpg 150w, http:\/\/alienbabeltech.com\/main\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/11\/cooler-by-design-300x175.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 477px) 100vw, 477px\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\" \/><\/a>Nvidia is quick to point out their their competitor does not offer a guaranteed minimum clock rate &#8211; but only a maximum boost rate of 1000MHz.\u00a0 Here Nvidia has charted <em>Crysis 3<\/em> over time to show the differences between playing on a R9 290X in Quiet mode versus playing with a GTX 780 Ti.<a href=\"http:\/\/i0.wp.com\/alienbabeltech.com\/main\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/11\/trust.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter  wp-image-39339\" alt=\"trust\" src=\"http:\/\/i0.wp.com\/alienbabeltech.com\/main\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/11\/trust.jpg?resize=472%2C281\" srcset=\"http:\/\/i0.wp.com\/alienbabeltech.com\/main\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/11\/trust.jpg?resize=472%2C281 590w, http:\/\/alienbabeltech.com\/main\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/11\/trust-150x89.jpg 150w, http:\/\/alienbabeltech.com\/main\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/11\/trust-300x178.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 472px) 100vw, 472px\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\" \/><\/a>Although we did not see quite the extreme differences with the PowerColor 290X OC, we did note thermal throttling in Quiet mode.\u00a0 Uber mode allows the fan to ramp up to a noisy 55% which kept the GPU below 94C in our relatively cool ambient Fall temperatures (72-75F).<\/p>\n<p>With the same TDP of 250W as Titan, it is clear that the GTX 780 Ti GK110 GPU is built for higher frequencies and it should overclock at least as well as the Titan does. In an upcoming evaluation focusing on PowerColor 290X overclocking, we shall then compare Nvidia&#8217;s 3-panel Surround working off of a single card at 5760&#215;1080 resolution and higher to see if the GTX 780 Ti&#8217;s 3GB framebuffer has any disadvantage compared to Titan&#8217;s 6GB and R9 290X&#8217; 4GB.<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: left;\">New Software &#8211; Shadowplay and GeForce Experience<\/h3>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-size: 13px; font-weight: normal; text-align: -webkit-auto;\">New software was launched with the original GTX 780. Today, the GeForce Experience (GFE) has matured to cover over 100 games and it has become a regular feature for Nvidia gamers. In fact, Titan took the title as the then fastest supercomputer in the world. Titan was made possible by using Nvidia&#8217;s K20X Tesla accelerators to do ninety percent of the computing load. This basic GK110 GPU is in the GTX Titan and now also in the GTX 780 Ti.<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/i1.wp.com\/alienbabeltech.com\/main\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/10\/TitanCabs_10-3.jpg?resize=480%2C171\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Using <span style=\"font-size: small;\">18,688 Nvidia Tesla K20X GPU accelerators, the Titan supercomputer took the world&#8217;s top spot with a performance record of 17.59 petaflops as measured by the LINPACK benchmark. The K20X provides the highest computing performance ever available in a single processor, surpassing all other processors on two common measures of computational performance \u2013 3.95 teraflops single-precision (SP) and 1.31 teraflops double-precision (DP) peak floating point performance.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Differences between the GTX 780 Ti and Titan<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The GeForce Titan can also run double-precision compute at one-third of single-precision speeds, giving over 1 teraflop double-precision peak floating point performance. Nvidia is actually looking to grow their CUDA ecosystem by providing Titan GeForce cards to programmers on a budget since K20X costs over $3,000. In contrast, there is no significant double-precision available on the GTX 780 Ti for compute; all of its resources are devoted to performance gaming.<\/p>\n<p>The K20 family also includes the Tesla K20 accelerator, which provides 3.52 teraflops of single-precision and 1.17 teraflops of double-precision peak performance. The K20X is clocked at 732MHz for the core clock and 5.2GHz for the memory clock while the K20 is clocked slightly lower at 706MHz with the same memory clock. The Titan GTX GPU is clocked at 837MHz on the core clock with a Boost to 876MHz and the memory is clocked at 6GHz. In contrast, the GTX 780 Ti is clocked higher at 874MHz and with a more aggressive 928MHz boost backed up by a significantly higher TDP. The GTX 780 Ti is a pure gaming card!<\/p>\n<p>The new GTX 780 Ti is upgraded over the K20 as it has all 15 instead of 13 SMX units enabled, and also two more than Titan.\u00a0 It is the gaming card equivalent of the latest Quadro K-6000 which costs in the $5000 range.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/i2.wp.com\/alienbabeltech.com\/main\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/05\/TeslaKeplerGK110_FNL_800_PR.jpg?resize=258%2C270\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Here is pictured Nvidia&#8217;s GK110 Kepler GPU which at 7.1 billion transistors is the most complex piece of silicon anywhere. Although we are primarily gamers, we realize that these very same GPUs that power supercomputers as Tesla are used in our GeForce video cards. ABT has been following GK110 closely since we covered <a href=\"http:\/\/alienbabeltech.com\/main\/?p=29692&amp;all=1\">Nvidia&#8217;s GTC 2012<\/a> where the new architecture was unveiled.<\/p>\n<p>A completely functional GK110 GPU such as the GTX 780 Ti is made up of 15 SMXes for a total of 2880 CUDA cores (192 x 15). However, for yield purposes and to differentiate faster, more complex, and more expensive processors from less expensive, slower and less complex products, parts are often disabled and clockspeeds lowered. In the both cases for Titan and the K20X, 14 SMXes are enabled for a total of 2688 CUDA cores. The typical Boost Clock speed is 900MHz. The Boost Clock speed is based on the average GeForce GTX 780 card running a wide variety of games and applications. In contrast, the GTX 780 Ti is based at 875MHz and boosts to a minimum guaranteed 928MHz.<\/p>\n<p>The GeForce GTX 780 reference board measures 10.5\u201d in length. Display outputs include two dual-link DVIs, one HDMI and one DisplayPort connector. One 8-pin PCIe power connector and one 6-pin PCIe power connector are required for operation. They are the first &#8220;designer&#8221; cards from either Nvidia or AMD, and the GTX 780 Ti&#8217;s &#8220;looks&#8221; are part of the design for efficiency and cooling.<\/p>\n<p>There is a bit more plastic used in the GTX 780 Ti compared to the Titan and to the GTX 690 although the look and the feel are the same. The lettering is laser-etched, ensuring precise design. This LED acts as a power indicator, lighting up when the board is in use. This cooler consists of a copper vapor chamber and dual-slot aluminum heatsink along with a blower-style fan.<\/p>\n<p>Nvidia uses an axial fan that has optimized the fin pitch and angle at which air from the fan hits the fin stack as the smoother the airflow, the lower the noise output. The section of the baseplate directly underneath the fan is carved with low-profile channels to encourage smooth airflow, and all components under the fan are low-profile to minimize turbulence and create an efficient airflow.<\/p>\n<p>The gamer using a GTX 780 or Titan gets treated to less-perceptible noise than the GTX 680.\u00a0 When you listen to the fan alone &#8211; even running over 60 percent, it\u2019s clean and smooth &#8211; and this is especially contrasted with the R9 290X, a very noisy card in Uber mode.\u00a0 At regular fan profiles we never reached an intrusive level over our quiet Noctua case fans &#8211; even under maximum load in gaming; we generally did not hear the GTX 780 Ti&#8217;s fan over our PC&#8217;s other cooling fans.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Compare with R9 290X<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In stark contrast, the R9 290X is quite noticeable when it ramps up even in &#8220;Quiet&#8221; mode.\u00a0 In Uber mode it can become quite irritating, especially if the fan profile is allowed to exceed it&#8217;s 55%.\u00a0 Gamers that are sensitive to noise are advised to wait for quieter vendor solutions from AMD&#8217;s partners or to game with headphones.<\/p>\n<p><strong>New Adaptive Temperature Controller<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>With GPU Boost 2.0, the GPU will boost to the highest clock speed it can achieve while operating below 80C. Boost 2.0 will dynamically adjust the GPU fan speed up or down as needed to attempt to maintain this temperature. Previous generation GPUs have a much more noticeable fan fluctuation.<\/p>\n<p>For the GeForce GTX 780 series, Nvidia has developed an all-new fan controller that uses an adaptive temperature filter with an RPM and temperature-targeted control algorithm to eliminate excessive fan fluctuations that contribute to fan noise, providing a smoother acoustic experience. Let&#8217;s check out overclocking next.<\/p>\n<p><!--nextpage--><!--pagetitle: Overclocking the GTX 780--><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Overclocking the GTX 780<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Overclocking the GTX 780 Ti is just as easy as overclocking the Geforce Titan, the GTX 680\/770 or the GTX 690. The GTX 780 Ti managed a completely stable +175MHz on the core and +400MHz on the memory. We did not adjust the GTX 780&#8217;s fan profile, nor voltage for our benchmark runs. We did however, push up the temperature controls to maximum since we tested in Fall-like (cool &#8211; 72-75F) conditions. We saw much less throttling with the GTX 780 Ti than we did with the Titan.\u00a0 We also made very sure to warm up all of our cards before benching.<a href=\"http:\/\/i2.wp.com\/alienbabeltech.com\/main\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/11\/presX-1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-39399\" alt=\"presX-1\" src=\"http:\/\/i2.wp.com\/alienbabeltech.com\/main\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/11\/presX-1.jpg?resize=300%2C235\" srcset=\"http:\/\/i2.wp.com\/alienbabeltech.com\/main\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/11\/presX-1.jpg?resize=300%2C235 300w, http:\/\/alienbabeltech.com\/main\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/11\/presX-1-150x117.jpg 150w, http:\/\/alienbabeltech.com\/main\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/11\/presX-1.jpg 550w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Moving up the power slider to 106% and the temperature up to the maximum 94C using EVGA&#8217;s Precision showed very little performance gain over simply setting the temperature limiter to 85C.<\/p>\n<p>We would suggest that for absolute stability, +200MHz might be the maximum we can run which is about +25Hz more with the unlocked voltage than at stock. We saw 1176MHz as our highest boost at stock voltage although it blipped 1194MHz. It&#8217;s probably not what extreme overclockers are looking for since Nvidia has still locked down the voltage and the TDP somewhat.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Temperatures running at stock settings were an issue for Boost as the fan profile remained extraordinarily quiet at maximum load, but they allowed the temperature to reach 79C which throttled back Boost and made some of our results variable.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">We found that setting the upper limit to 85C (as with Titan\/GTX 780) no longer limited Boost; our other choice was to set the fan profile higher so that it would reach 60%. For us, the VGA fan became noticeable over 60% and much more so at 75%.\u00a0 Our GTX 780 Ti appears to let the fan spin up a bit higher than the GTX 780 or the Titan with a little more noise under full load.\u00a0 When we overclocked +175MHz on the core, the temperatures rose by 2C to 87C.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Let&#8217;s head to the performance charts and graphs to see how the GTX 780 Ti compares with the top cards of 2013.<\/p>\n<p><!--nextpage--><!--pagetitle: Performance Summary Charts--><\/p>\n<h2><strong>Performance summary charts &amp; graphs<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Here are the summary charts of 30 games and 4 synthetic tests. The highest settings are always chosen and it is DX11 when there is a choice; DX10 is picked above DX9, and the settings are ultra or maxed. Specific settings are listed on the Main Performance charts.<\/p>\n<p>The benches are run at 1920&#215;1080 and 2560&#215;1600.\u00a0 All results, except for Vantage, Firestrike and 3DMark11, show average framerates and higher is always better. In-game settings are fully maxed out and they are identically high or ultra across all platforms.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>Here is the main summary chart:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong><\/strong><a href=\"http:\/\/i0.wp.com\/alienbabeltech.com\/main\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/11\/MainChart1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-39369\" alt=\"MainChart1\" src=\"http:\/\/i0.wp.com\/alienbabeltech.com\/main\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/11\/MainChart1.jpg?resize=720%2C920\" srcset=\"http:\/\/i0.wp.com\/alienbabeltech.com\/main\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/11\/MainChart1.jpg?resize=720%2C920 1144w, http:\/\/alienbabeltech.com\/main\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/11\/MainChart1-117x150.jpg 117w, http:\/\/alienbabeltech.com\/main\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/11\/MainChart1-234x300.jpg 234w, http:\/\/alienbabeltech.com\/main\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/11\/MainChart1-801x1024.jpg 801w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1144px) 100vw, 1144px\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0We see some incredibly impressive results of the new GTX 780 Ti.\u00a0 At its stock speeds it is faster in almost every case over the user overclocked EVGA GTX 780 which managed +150 core\/+550MHz!<\/p>\n<p>Our chart provides a lot of information across 30 games and 4 synthetics.\u00a0 What we can take away from the results is that the GTX 780 Ti is the fastest single GPU video card &#8211; period!\u00a0 The reference GTX 780 Ti easily beats its main competitor, the mildly overclocked R9 290X, which maintains its 1030MHz boost clock as it base clock through all of the benching in our cool testing environment.\u00a0 And the PowerColor 290X is a very strong performer as it goes toe to toe with the Titan!<\/p>\n<p>We also see very good scaling from overclocking the reference GTX 780 Ti which gives a taste of what Nvidia&#8217;s board partners will be able to do with the clocks with more exotic cooling.\u00a0 When overclocked, the GTX 780 Ti is within about 10% of the performance of the dual-GPU GTX 690.\u00a0 This is an amazing feat for the GTX 780 Ti as it has none of the issues of SLI.<\/p>\n<p>We also see that at 1920&#215;1080, our CPU is not fast enough as in some games, scaling is poor.\u00a0 The GTX 780 Ti is perfect for 2560&#215;1600 resolution.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3><strong>PhysX<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>We test PhysX in <em>Batman: Arkham Origins<\/em> which makes great use of PhyxX and it is a shame to play it without it. In both cases, turning on PhysX, although affecting the frame rate, it is enough to play the game with fully maxed out details and with AA with our GTX 780\/Ti, GTX Titan and our GTX 690. It will co-exist with the GTX 780, the GTX 690 and the GeForce Titan<\/p>\n<p><strong>Final Thoughts<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The GTX 780 Ti is impressive. However, the big question is what does it bring over the R9 290X and is it &#8220;worth&#8221; $699?\u00a0 Well, it is solidly faster than the R9 290X or the GTX 780 which it is replacing, and it also has great headroom for overclocking.<\/p>\n<p>The GTX 780 Ti did extraordinarily well performance-wise comparing it to any other card including the Titan!\u00a0 When overclocked, it even goes toe to toe with the dual-GPU GTX 690 which is still current and that is an amazing feat for a single-GPU card to be less than 10% slower overall.<\/p>\n<p>We are totally impressed with the GK110 cool-running Kepler chip that has very good overclockability. It slots above the Uber mode overclocked R9 290X by over ten percent.\u00a0 The GTX 780 Ti slots well over the GTX Titan and it leaves the GTX 780 and HD 7970 GHz edition in the dust as well being much faster than the 280X and GTX 770.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">The GTX 780 Ti also looks awesome inside just about any case. The temperature limit is set too low in our opinion at 80C, but it is easily changed.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">The only issue might be the GTX 780 Ti&#8217;s higher launch price. $699 is expensive and yet we are quite certain that it will appeal to the gamer who demands the very best &#8211; without any compromises for a single high resolution display or even 5760&#215;1080 Surround gaming. If you have a 2GB GTX 680\/770 or even a GTX 690, you simply cannot run <em>Max Payne 3<\/em> with maxed-out ultra setting in Surround like you can with the GTX 780 Ti or with the Titan.<\/p>\n<p>We want to make it clear that a gamer that prefers &#8220;bang for buck&#8221; would never consider the GTX 780 Ti at all at $699. Rather a pair of GTX 660s in SLI or a pair of HD 7950s or 280Xes in CrossFire might make sense to a performance-oriented budget conscious gamer.
