Introduction<\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

Due to having leftover results from my GTX285 vs GTX260+ vs 4850 review<\/a>, I had enough content to put up a Catalyst 9.4 mini-review.<\/p>\n

I used the same Radeon 4850, and the system configuration, benchmarks, and settings are identical to those used in that review.<\/p>\n

In the text charts, a yellow<\/span> highlight means 9.4 is faster while an orange<\/span> highlight means 9.1 is faster.<\/p>\n

Direct3D<\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

With these titles, there are some good performance gains in Stalker<\/em> and Call of Duty 2<\/em>, but there\u2019s a large performance loss in Fear<\/em>.<\/p>\n

OpenGL games are largely unchanged, aside from Prey<\/em> seeing a slight performance gain, and Quake Wars<\/em> seeing a slight performance loss.<\/p>\n

Conclusion<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Based on the games tested today, the two drivers are close in performance on average, but they should be avoided if you\u2019re concerned about performance in the original Fear<\/em>.<\/p>\n
