JMicron plans to remedy the ghosts of the past with its new JMF612 controller. Along with the 34nm NAND flash being built by IM Flash Technologies, a joint venture between Intel and Micron, the prices of the SSDs with this controller and higher density flash could be cut in half by Christmas shopping season. <\/p>\n<p>&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160; The JMF612 has an ARM9 embedded processor in a 289-ball TFBGA package with 32KB of ROM and 128KB of RAM at its core and will support up to 256MB of DDR or DDR2 DRAM as an external cache.
