We got some responses and a few questions from our investigation into the broken Cat 8-10 hot fix drivers, yesterday found here: http:\/\/www.alienbabeltech.com\/?p=890<\/a><\/p>\n

Best of all, there is evidently\u00a0a quick response coming\u00a0from AMD itself in the form of a new hotfix!\u00a0 There was\u00a0a question\u00a0if the issue\u00a0is “only rocks’.\u00a0\u00a0 No.\u00a0 Here is another example.\u00a0 All anyone needs to do is walk around and look at the ground –\u00a0I found this in about\u00a0one minute.\u00a0 Just remember to\u00a0keep your eyes open for snipers!<\/p>\n

Both pics are taken from the same PC, same Radeon HD4870\/1GB at 19×12 with identical [ultra] settings; no AA\/AF this time.<\/p>\n

The good news to report, acording to HardOCP’s editor, KyleB, is that AMD plans to fix their bugged hot fix for FarCry2<\/em>!!<\/p>\n

So it appears that we may get some relief from AMD soon.\u00a0 We did not speculate on the\u00a0“why”.\u00a0 It is possible that ATi could be aggressively optimizing the vertex mesh, which would cause that sort of misplaced collision trouble and could also cause texture distortions since the texture is being overlaid onto a different mesh than what it as designed for.\u00a0 A legitimate bug. \u00a0Whatever it is\/was, it is getting addressed.\u00a0 And in future, we will be glad to let our readers know whenever something\u00a0comes to our attention that detracts from your\u00a0game play –\u00a0 no matter from what source.\u00a0 We are gamers.<\/p>\n
