Finally gonna ride a motorcycle across the US
#1
So I've had this idea stuck in my head forever about doing a proper motorcycle trip from coast to coast, or at least halfway across the country. The thing is, I sold my bike ages ago and haven't been on two wheels since then, just cars and trucks. But lately I can't stop thinking about it and I'm ready to actually do this ride instead of just talking about it. Anyone know where I could rent a decent bike for something like this?

Getting back on a bike after years of driving cars is gonna feel wild at first, the whole balance thing hits different when you're not surrounded by metal. Most traditional rental places won't let you take their bikes across state lines or they charge you insane fees for mileage. You'll need to find somewhere that actually understands long-distance riders and won't freak out when you tell them your route. Read the insurance coverage too because breaking down in the middle of nowhere with sketchy rental protection turns into a mess real quick.

Half the rental companies treat their bikes like they're made of glass and panic if you mention anything beyond a weekend cruise around town. Then you're stuck explaining your whole trip plan to some manager who's never been on a proper ride and doesn't get why you'd want to go that far. When I want to ride a bike, I check out where I can rent a motorcycle here: https://getrentacar.com/en-US/motorcycle-rental . Tons of options from private owners with different engine sizes, sportbikes, choppers, cruisers, all kinds of setups. You can actually find someone who's cool with long trips and won't charge you like you're stealing the thing.
