Illinois joins Oregon with pay per mile, only the rich to drive in America

Quote: The volunteers will agree to pay 1.5 cents for each mile traveled on public roads within Oregon, instead of the tax now added when filling up at the pump.

My truck gets 16mpg, so at 1.5 cents per gallon that is 24 cents per gallon on their proposed tax, instead of the 30 cents I'm apparently already paying.

What if I got 30mpg?

Well then I'd be paying 45 cents per gallon instead of the 30 cents, or an additional $3.75 per tank with a 25 gallon tank.

You really think that equates to only the rich driving? I'd say if $3.75 a tank is a big deal to a person, they can't afford to drive anyway.
