Average monthly electric bill to be at least $1,000 a month

In our state capitol, electricity has a base fee of $20/month and $.13/Kwh.

A 32% raise in the cost of energy would make it $.17/KWh.

Your $1000. forecasted bill would mean that 5764 KWh per month is used.

Quote:In 2013, the average annual electricity consumption for a U.S. residential utility customer was 10,908 kilowatt hours (kWh), an average of [B]909 kWh per month

So is the average home's electric use going to jump over 6X also?

909KWh X $.13 = $118.17

909KWh X $.17 = $154.53 under 32% increase.

I'd find the $35 a month in the budget before I would move to another country if I were you. Might take a long time to offset the international moving costs at $35/month savings.

Not to mention I believe our electricity is dirt cheap compared to other places, and our gas is as well. Look into what they pay in Europe.
