But happy, you need to look around. x86 CPUs are barely moving forward yr over yr. That haswell "dead end" platform will be extremely powerful and relevant for yr and yrs to come. You could eventually pick up an 8 core 16 thread cpu for it, used xeon or something.
But even if you dont get anything other cpu for that platform down the road, the haswell E 6 core today would be faster and more powerful that the 6700k as well as the skylake quads. The overclocked 5820k/5830k tops them all. Considering the pathetic 2-5% performance increases, do you really think that the tick or tock is going to be anything significant at all?
As time passes, ever more powerful x99 cpus will come down in price. It is not such a dead end when you think about it
