That's what's so disgusting about your opinions on this. You would actually come out ahead here in Canada but you can't stomach your taxes helping someone in need who is less fortunate than you. Honestly I don't know how you can even look at yourself in the mirror.
Let's review what we've uncovererd in this thread:
1. Your tvs cost 50% more, the only tvs under $1000 on the 55" page I recall were "Changhong" crap boxes.
Not good.
2. Your money is worth 40% less, even though your wages are comparable.
Not good.
3. Your housing costs 62% more, or more in your case.

Not good.
4. College is 50-60% cheaper for tuition, while being 60% higher housing and more for everything else like food:

Mixed, but in the long run, not good.
5. Everyone gets free healthcare, including people who make an active choice not to work at jobs that would pay them a benefit package.
Mixed, but in the long run, not good.
New trend here is high deductible plans. You pay $100/mo, and a $4000 deductible, then everything is covered. So your maximum cost is $5200 for a family but you can pay much less if you're all healthy. (and no more if you're all sick)
This is better.
I'm the one who is disgusted. You pay more for everything your whole life, and say "This is the way to go! We're helpin' people who choose not to work!"
I've got no problem helping the old, the young, and the disabled. My household pays a LOT in taxes every year, never complain, never try to shelter income with deductions. Glad to do our part for people who deserve help.
So guys like Apoppin can choose not to go to work and collect money from people like us:
No thanks.
to socialism.I think you even talked about renting a room of your house out to make ends meet once, and I bet your household income is over $100K.
You think that is BETTER?!
I think you're on crack. Helping "those less fortunate" wouldn't be worth having some stranger listen to me take a crap and do the wild thing with Mrs Rollo to me.
I think they must put some sort subliminal hypnosis in your tv advertising from the Prime Minister:
"You're all really fucked and making sacrifices our neighbors to the South don't make, but remember you get some free marginal health care and cheaper tuition....remember....it's goooood to be fucked.....the government loves you....do not move to the USA and live in prosperity...pay the taxes happily..."
