Interesting - I don't think it's just global warming - as Antarctica just had the largest freeze across the surrounding sea this past September, ever recorded in history. Earth's patterns are just changing over time. NYC's been getting lots of heavy snowstorms lately.
Notice the middle age "little" ice age that occurred in Europe? Drastically different than Europe of today:

BTW, 28" of snow just fell over the weekend, basically stranded here at home. Stuffing that fireplace!
