Illinois joining Oregon in taxing Motorists by the mile:
Illinois to tax by the mile
It’s called “I-Ride" and under the plan the state would monitor car odometer readings or install devices that track miles driven on Illinois roads.
“It’s highway robbery,” said Jared Labell, director of operations Taxpayers United of America “It’s highway robbery saying you owe $450 for just being a driver anywhere in Illinois or be tracked anywhere you go.
Paying $450/year and getting your $.20/gallon refunded sounds fair to me. I would get a $200 refund as I buy around 20 gallons of gas a week, so I'd pay $250 instead of the normal $200.. (and be loaning the state $200 that they would rebate)
I don't see a problem here?
