Who plans to get VR headgear within 1 year?
#4
I may get a VR headset....

Kind of think that the VR market is confusing at this point. With so many players, which one will break out? VR is very interesting but I am apprehensive....see, many many years ago there was a lot of talk and hype over VR. We were led to believe so much and many had the expectation it was just around the corner. But all that hype and excitement ended with a massive let down. This was a long and drawn out let down, which I feel I is the worst kind. Getting excited back was punishment.

So, it's hard for me to get excited about VR today. I don't think I can let myself. It's real easy to not get excited when I see 25 different VR systems with 700 different ways....all at once. It seems like awfully like a fad with everyone jumping on the bandwagon. Trouble is, these competing systems will make it very hard for any one version to take off. People will buy into the HW and the SW will be limited. It would be hard enough if there was only on VR company. sell enough systems that developers would invest the massive resources needed for top notch content. There has to be an install base large enough to make sense.

Yet there are many companies jumping on the VR bandwagon. And i believe this will mostly obstruct the adoption of this technology. No only is it gonna confuse, it's also spreading out the early adopters. The VR market is brand new which isn't necessarily the reason having so many players is bad. It's the fact that this is a content driven technology. Developers aren't gonna flock unless they can make money, it is a huge issue that so many systems are flooding the market. It seems like a terrible thing to me.

So, it's hard to get excited. I mean....which VR system should I be excited for? Do you guys remember Nintendo VR set from decades ago? People bought those headsets and ended up throwing them away. Content

I believe that it looks way to crowded. And perhaps the Playstation VR (which is probably the one of the worst) stands the chance for a higher adoption. The worst experience VR could end up tarnishing and ruining it. Prevent the lift off.

I have a hard time getting excited.
